• If some batches of vaccines in the UK are supposed to go to the EU, we are back to the "what actually was in the contract" discussion... that was "fun"...

My parents in Netherlands sure would like vaccines, the skepticism does vary per country. No stupid remarks by politicians were made there, same for ROI, so its not as simple as "all EU countries don't want use them".

  • If I'm not mistaken, both the Netherlands and Ireland have suspended use of the AZ vaccine.

Having said that, other EU countries have not, so you're right to say that it's not all countries. But it's nonetheless surprising to see the EU commission return to this issue generally, and at this moment specifically.

  • Unless it's just a deflection tactic, in which case it's timed perfectly.

  • I'm not a fan of Van Der Leyen for other reasons but this is the sort of theatre I expect. Matt Hancock's reply is the counter performance.

Maybe something I missed but the EU commission probably still has the shortage fallout to deal with? That won't just go away.

You are correct Ireland suspended it, Netherlands government page says they are waiting on EMA advice, who just cleared it, ROI should also hopefully use it again soon.

What a mess in any case, it's all so depressing. We all need to get vaccinated. No country was ever isolated (see Spanish flu) so hopefully it gets sorted asap.

I'll definitely be all on Facebook once I get my jab, can't post it to my parents unfortunately ;)
