Can you do something like run windows 7 in a virtual machine to acheive what you want??

Good idea, but unfortunately the VM crashes when I try. Not sure if it's a hardware issue (I'm trying to interface with a device which connects to the car, so there are some drivers being installed), but have tried a few times with no luck (with windows xp and 7).

Can you just dual boot?

Or could even run it off a USB. Seems something like this is well reviewed (and low risk if you're just installing to a usb anyway)
