I thought the divine right of kings pretty much fell apart in the late 1600s in England.

Sure - it's not Monty Python levels of divination but they're the head of the church and the national anthem does a good job of linking their survival to divine intervention.

I reckon a lot of CoE people in the UK would link the existence of the Monarchy to god.
