  • Well I'm a bare feet kinda guy who's slowly transitioning to barefoot / minimalist running so I'd say skip all support, but that's very individual.

Have a pair of Birkenstocks as well which I like, though my arches are too high to get much support from them

  • Yeah I'm another barefoot advocate (socks tho, I get really cold feet). I find my feet get more tired in any kind of shoes.

  • Had this week off so new office setup. Gone from downstairs to completely updating a spare bedroom to include desk, zwift and music.

  • I did a brief stint working in a kitchen, where you spend your day on your feet. The day I used my friends crocs was amazing.

Luckily I got a new job soon after so I didn’t have to ever buy any crocs.

  • @Sam_w - this is how I got the CRG9 to work with a gas lift arm…

I removed the plastic shroud from the stand and undid the bolt circled in red.

Then I ground away the gas arm and cut a notch in to allow some swivel and attached it to the monitor.

  • Oh, and I snuck an under desk mounted Xbox Series S in there for the odd game break… 😅

  • Flex Box?

  • Very nice. I found working from the spare room where my turbo is set up meant I didn't want to get on it after work, it felt too much like I was stuck in those 4 walls, I've ended up moving to the kitchen after lunch so it's easier to get on the turbo in the evening.

  • updating a spare bedroom to include desk, zwift and music

    very nice

  • Looks good. What speakers are those under the monitor? I'm trying to find something neat to go with mine.

What does the Xbox do with the ultrawide monitor, just display in the middle or something else?

  • Speakers are Logitech Z407. USB input is great but has Bluetooth and aux input too. Wireless volume / play pause button is really useful.

Xbox stretches in the UI but then plays in the middle in game. You can also do PBP so have the laptop showing and the Xbox at the same time.

  • Cheers, look good but I don't have convenient space for the subwoofer so don't think they'll work.

  • Nice setup!

(Only thing I would change is not having the desk/monitor facing the window to put less strain on the eyes from the monitor lighting to the natural lighting outside)

  • I considered having it the other way but I’m on video calls for around 40 hours a week so need front lighting and no strong rear lighting. Also didn’t want to show the bike by having the desk 90 degrees left.

  • Well you know what they say, if you got it flaunt it.

  • I have a window immediately behind my monitor - I find it hugely beneficial to be able to shift my eyes to the distance, see birds, squirrels cavorting about the neighbours shed roof etc. It's a real pain at a certain point in the afternoon when the low winter sun comes in but overall it's worth it especially in the gloom of the winter. Will probably relocate soon for summer as it'll just get too bright and hot.

  • Also didn’t want to show the bike

Why not? Be proud of who you are.

  • It’s usually got some bib shorts hanging off it or something. Got to be professional. The vinyl / speakers are a better background.

  • Do you get the obligatory "oh so you play the guitar?" every time you speak to someone new?

Mate of mine did and decided to move his guitar out of frame, had enough of casual guitar chat

  • Until this new office space (only finished yesterday), my background was a bookcase in another room.

Let’s see when I’m back at work, Monday…

  • Be careful. You'll be the guitar-guy forever if you show them. Or the vinyl-guy.

I have a slatted ceiling behind me and one of my clients thought I was working off a boat. I'm now the boat guy in all calls. Could be worse.

  • thought I was working off a boat

    lol

  • I have also had enough of casual chat—thinking of rearranging my pictures a bit to put my framed Protest Poster #3 in the background. [edit: that came out significantly higher impact than I expected. Maybe not my finest idea, on reflection]

  • Ha. One of my colleagues is working I’m from a cabin in Canada right now (usually based on Ireland) and he’s the sauna guy because of the cladding.

  • Naked from the waist down I assume
