Discovery, obvs. I could get at least 20 dogs in mine.
Actively seeking out floodwater, and looking for drowning people in need of rescue has become a favourite new winter past time of mine.
I also thoroughly enjoy my regular games of ‘warning light bingo’ when driving the B roads of Somerset.

I thoroughly approve of the co-pilot, his role is essential.

Got a 3 series that isn't what you're looking for. But mostly I'm just replying because I'm interested in what you end up with.

Ha. Nothing much has changed in the future.
Passed 2k miles in the car now so checked how much that cost me in electricity: £92 or 4p per mile. Not bad for winter and heavy motorway. Roughly an average of 330Wh per mile.
Sping / summer should see that dip to 250Wh per mile and so my next 2k miles should only cost me £70 or one tank of fuel (350 miles) in the Range Rover.
The worst thing that’s happened is our next door neighbour has bought a Tesla Model 3 LR in Blue. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and all that but at least chose a different colour.

sweet. that 2k miles for 70 sheets target is pretty impressive.
how long were you with the courtesy car?
-
• #62962
Two days. Didn’t actually need to go anywhere apart from back to the service centre.
Car seems fine - they updated the firmware on the charge port - no cost obvs.
Can’t do that with a petrol cap.

cheers dude. good stuff.
neighbour has picked up a Model 3 here. not had chance to catch up with him due to Covid to see how he is getting on with it. spends a lot of time cleaning it though. I guess they have shit on the roads in the future too

Lol. They’ve not worked out the auto cleaning bit yet. I’ve washed mine once since December. Can’t be arsed.
Paint quality is shit though. When washing, noticed it’s got loads of stone chips on the under sill already. Not sure it’s going to look great when I hand it back in 3 years.

Won't need to either tbh

Sorry not following
Just making jealous snide comments. One day I'll go electric, but it doesn't make sense quite yet. For now a cheap used diesel with low enough tax that doesn't fall apart too much is a more sensible choice. You should see the interior of our Volvo, you'd cry if it was your Tesla. Last time I checked we had about 1.5cm of sand / gravel in the rear footwells...

Maybe for high mileage. Also, not sure Tesla budget is comparable to a cheap diesel Volvo. Used market is growing in the electric world.
Living with a used Leaf for a year, I think we've probably saved enough in fuel, tax and maintenance to pay for the electric 'premium' sale price a couple of times over. Plus it's appreciated in value.
100 miles out and back in a day is no bother also. Leafs do not have Tesla range. So pleasantly surprised.

@Crispin_Glover @hoops Kind of touched you think I could handle such a beast. As much as I'd love a Disco, I think it's a bit too balleur for me.
I should have placed more emphasis on the Would be great if it didn't ruin us to run/maintain. So 3.6l(!!!) Superbs (or anything else like this) are out of the question.
For reference I currently drive a 3dr 06 plate Zetec Fiesta in the much sought after purple rinse colour. 1.4l or pure grunt.
I love the little 4x4 Pandas but they're too little. Smaller boot than the Fiesta plus I'd like something that makes the occasional trip down the M4 a bit more enjoyable (if that's even possible).
XC70 is actually what made me consider estate/4x4. Quite a few of them around here. Other cars that have made me go hmmm are Yeti, Octavia, Tiguan, 93, A4 and Impreza (in increasing order of how ridiculous I'd feel behind the wheel of one).
Anything else in this vein I should consider? Really not a fan of warning light bingo or spenny servicing.

It’s you or the kids on the cobalt mines.
This. Although the petrol flavoured ones are now sought after and disproportionately expensive.
