The GMT bracelet is 1/2 the charm of the watch. The sub one feels like a christmas cracker prize in comparison, until you put it on and then it's light and looks great.
Yes, sel but otherwise the bracelets are totally different in pretty much every way, the closing mech feels very different. The sub has the wetsuit extension built in and the GMT has a way of relaxing the bracelet into 'cocktail' mode. Helpful if you're travelling and the heat is really getting to you in the evening.
I don't think the maxi Rolex are pretending to be tool watches but once you get past the initial ownership learning curve you get to appreciate the quality. Both are seriously well made, the GMT is probably much better as a piece of engineering.
