Been there done that. I really like the Wound Up and I would've considered it for this bike but they don't come in the right rake and I'm not about to pay a premium for them to create me a custom-rake one. Which they can do. But not worth it IMO.

I like the new one more, aesthetically, i like the curve, the gloss, and it’s a little beefier
-

For me aesthetically the fork is too chunky and modern. Wound up would be banging. Or for curved a Columbus minimal.

If you want a compliant but slender carbon fork an old EC90SLX might work well. They look pretty delicate, and they're on the twangier end of the carbon spectrum. Rather late suggestion, I know, but I'm assuming the Falz will only be fitted for a week or two before it also gets replaced.

Na mane. The minimal looks shit on Ti frames. It goes nicely with slender steel tubes but the tubing on here really is quite beefy. Also see previous post Re wound up.
Also also Minimal's have 2007 tyre clearance. You can just about squeeze in a 26. Ain't nobody got time for that.

This forum makes me laugh. I think every time I post an update to this project I get a 'yeah but X is better.' or 'Why would you do that'. Or 'You're overthinking it'.

This bike needs a 50mm rake fork.
In that case you definitely don't want an EC90 SLX and anyone who suggests that is a moron.

This is what happens when you make bad decisions and then tell the internet about it. The internet is not good at empathy.

I think is boredom as well as the inherent nature of CP threads. 'Look what I have' vs 'This is what I'd like to do' where in the former it's all done and settled, but the latter suggests input (wanted or not). Also there are so many options that high end shit invites speculation.
'I need a fork for my Pomp for bridleways' vs 'I need a fork for my custom ti'
I'm guilty of it myself though. There was some bro who must have spent better part of 9k building up an OK gravel bike with the most expensive parts known to humans amd had a CP but didn't want to chat cost. That kind of behaviour invites negative commentary I think. Not that this is directly analogous just an eg.
Of course the othe issue is that the forum is mostly full of wankers.

I, on the otherhand, think it might look alright. Just needs a better photograph of the whole bike. And hey...if it brings you joy to ride it...

Yes as you mentioned custom woundup... you’re worth it jb.
Good point about minimal.

@hoops - I don't think I've made any poor decisions :-) It's all just learning, innit. This is my only bike and I'm now in the financial position to try different things with it and that's all I'm doing. There's also the fact that a load of stuff has been acquired used or pretty cheap from UK sources and can easily be resold without much of a hit. The steel fork is the outlier there. It wouldn't make financial sense to sell as it's so niche.
@youramericanlover - I know the bike you mean. I have no issue with discussing the cost of this bike at all - but I understand what you're saying.. I mean, I reckon this is a proper current project thread. It started off before I'd been fit for the bike and here I am, with a bike, multiple permutations later. But I just find it funny that people make recommendations on stuff when they've never ridden this bike, or where I live, or they haven't paid attention to the measurements that I have said I need so many times.
I'm not saying 'oh poor me' - I don't care what someone thinks of the choices I've made - but I find current project threads are so often actually just criticism of one's choice, rather than 'input'. I don't mean just me. I mean across the board.

You know I’m only winding you up.
-
• #516
Put whatever fork you want on it. I just like winding you up every time you change it!

I think you should try one of those funky Oval Concepts ones with the weird air vents in next. They were way cool in 2009.

I'm 'Wound Up'. Getit?????????

Have bamboo forks been discussed yet?

I think the next logical step is a Lauf fork.

• #522
But a custom one made for rod brakes

we have been here

It's not the fork decision I'd have made, but then it's not the bike I'd have. which is lucky since it's not mine.
FWIW (not much, see reasoning above) I think there is a bit of a need to scratch an itch by replacing stuff on bikes. I definitely do it. At the end of the day it will ride like a bike with any fork, but obviously it's fun to change stuff around and experiment as you say.
Anyway - as I listen to the rain and wind outside, and I think back to the potholes from my ride this evening, I get jealous of the sun and smooth tarmac that you'll have over there. So hopefully you're enjoying the riding.

Yes, good point. The important stuff. My back yard :-)

I'm keeping the steel fork for a future steel frame :-) It's really lovely to ride, but it turned this bike into a bit of a sofa instead of a fast road bike.
The Falz is difficult to photograph but IMO in the flesh it looks better than the rest of 'em. It's really great. Impressive tyre clearance too.
