fyi I'm sure I read in the write-up that Ghent model was refinished
Yes, it was but it’s period correct.
Apart from the incorrect use of the German tricolour for Flanders!!!
How to piss off the Flemish. -

Thanks. It’s the kind of daft project/labour of love I would probably only do during winter lockdown.
Hopefully it gets finished before I suddenly have to do real life again. -

Sorry meant to write "neat"

Pretty sure you can use any JIS Bottom Bracket with them, they are the same as TA Cyclotouriste chainsets , I have a stronglight one to go in, will have to dig it out to see which one exactly.

I'm pretty sure Fixwheelnut is correct. I have a frame with a modern sealed square taper BB. When it came to me it had Shimano cranks, which I changed to Campag. The LH crank developed a dangerous looking crack from the pedal thread, so I replaced it with a Stronglight that happened to be in the parts bin. All these cranks fitted on the same spindle with no problems.
Of course, you will need to have the correct length of spindle for whatever your set up is.

@absurdbird here are the current H Lloyd waterslide decals. Without comparing to any originals they look pretty nice :)
Edit - needless to say I fully support your geeklordery, just these looked nice when they fell out the envelope.

Re 700s ...
I’m planning building up a set of double fixed Airlites (if I can get the rear hub fixed) with a pair of 40/32 700 MA2s I have - ‘they’ll look just like sprints’
I was planning to do the same with Module E2 😂 For me the seed was planted reading one of Robert Broderick's bike write-ups (if you don't know the site velo-pages you really should, lots of catalogues although later more 70s give or take than 50s, his build write-ups are insanely detailed). Anyway at the time of reading this as a younger, more naive vintage bike fancier I thought "come on Robert, get a grip" but like I said, I'm increasingly onboard. He picked MA2s as well ...

"come on Robert, get a grip"
Well yes.
😂
That is definitely ‘in some detail’.I always liked the MA2, my daily fixed wheelset is Mavic pista/MA2 😊
I bought a pair of NOS 40h a while ago, one is now built onto a Sturmey AM (a medium/ close ratio 3s hub) the other is waiting with my last remaining 32h to do something Airlite maybe- I bought a stack of 32h NOS about 15 years ago from a Belgian hoarder for a tenner each!!!
He had loads, I should have bought them all.I’ve not seen one in person but the H+Son TB 14 looks a good match (is it un-machined?) or the Pacenti Brevete is maybe better but wider I think.

The Lloyds decals look fine.
You’d have to be detail obsessed geek lord not to be satisfied with those.🤪

These are TB14s - it's a 90s repro Bates (built by Ron Cooper, lugs cut by Len Phipps in Ray Etherton's incarnation of Clasic Bikes) and I built with all modern components with a classic look. Been out for a spin in the sunshine on it today, first ride in nearly 3 months, felt great :)
It's quite a heavy wheelset in the end even with Sapim Laser spokes 😎
[I was particularly chuffed to get the saddle, can't remember exactly but I paid a hundred and something rather than a grand like they're listed for now. As far as I can tell it was from an early sample sale, I stalked the seller (on Facebook - it is for birds after all) and she was a Japanese fashion designer in London. Funny old world.]

Why is the Swallow so expensive now?
I had one of the first re-issued ti ones - but I sold it on.

As far as I can make out it's the stitching - that's 900 quid of workmanship right there.
The Pacenti Brevet has a nice retro looking decal too, that might be a better option that putting the wrong decals on MA2s or E2s.

Brevet are MSW.
If you want a proper old looking rim you'd be best off finding some. In your bloody loft of a million rare bike things.

A little out of context, sorry. Continuation of some gaglordery from another thread. For the record I am not on FB for the birds 😂 [I have just started to get sucked back in for the bikes thanks to your pal.]

Soz picking up dogends there.
Still, nobody says 'birds' any more dude. Benny Hill wants his derogaratories back.

This is stamped in the underside of my Brooks ti swallow. I can’t understand now why I cared, but it doesn’t correspond to their date stamping. I checked with Brooks themselves and they confirmed it was the one I thought it was - 2007 I think, but didn’t know the numbering either.
The seller’s email address got me to her FB page. I did not hit her up 😂

Nah fam, (‘strictly) for the birds’ has nothing to do with the ladies.

I gave up FB at NY but got sucked back in because of Gillott group.
I only occasionally visit vintage bike related stuff, the rest is for the birds.- absurdbird

The roundel is looking really good, looks like it'll be ready just in time for my frame :)
