Thank you. When you buy an off the peg version, does the cargo area come with a flat flatbed, that's flush with the sides of the frame; or is there an open / dipped cargo area? I see some sites selling a honeycomb Aluminium insert thing for £250.

If I was to cut a piece of ply that would fit in that area, if the OTP version comes with nothing, are there threaded holes in the frame to bolt it on to?

The off the peg version comes with no accessories, you have to buy them on top. This is mainly because some accessories require a base board and some do not. Plus as @amey said you can make your own baseboard and even side panels. I would add that you can get the BBX kit to fit the side panels (they’re essentially angled mounts that pop into the circular holes in the frame and then bolt into the side panels giving you max loading space as the panels are on top of the main side bars of the loading area) and I’d recommend getting this if you’re looking at making your own panels.

There are holes in the frame that allow you to bolt any board into place, obviously it’d need to be cut to the correct shape but I’m pretty sure there’s lots of baseboard blue prints on the internet you can find pretty easy

People with boxes: what do you do about front lights? At the moment I'm lighting up the inside of my box quite a lot with a handlebar mounted front light...

Light over the front wheel, mounted to fork crown?

You'll have to forgive me for being a complete dork but I have looked on FB for Bullitt related groups and there are a couple but they look like the manufacturer pages only, neither of which has been updated since 2014. I'm not even sure what I am searching for - "DIY Bullitt cargo insert" or something like that? (no results for that on instagram - but forgive me I'm not very au fait with instagram)

I would add that you can get the BBX kit to fit the side panels

The cargo I would be transporting would be 26 inches across so can't really have side panels on the cargo area

Thanks for those. Again something else I couldn't quite grasp from the manuftacturer and dealer pages, and am still not sure how to phrase it - let's say if you had a load that went over the top height of the handlebars, how much clearance from the back of the cargo area would you need to allow with the load to ensure that you could turn the bike sufficiently?

Someone will have to check theirs, but the base board for this Bullitt box might be what you're looking for.

Do you reckon if I gave this to B+Q on the OKR they'd be able to cut it? Shame that Whittens is gone from Peckham.

And if the Grundplatte is cut and installed, will it be flush with the sides of the frame, or will there still be a 'dip' / bucket ?

Yeah you want the Grundplatte and the frontplatte. Unsure of B&Q’s ability, our local one can only do 90 degree cuts ha.

Turning while loaded depends on a number of factors if you’re talking about catching cargo with your bars. The current stock builds now come with swept back bars which allow for more turning without catching your cargo. The easy up stem allows you to pop it up if your carrying something particularly tall (although it’s mainly for different height riders). Also you can properly lean into corners so you don’t need huge amounts of space to turn.

All that aside our pals who roast our coffee for us in Bournemouth bought a Bullitt from us and built this, which meant they could spread the load further forwards.

Mini side loader or rack3? - will have two kiddos; one in seat for a while but rather but the proper rack straight up if that’s the more suitable one

How does the omnium cope with weighty cargo up front? do they not get quite heavy as soon as the weight is off centre at that elevation?

with the rack on my fixed bike loaded with some compost it loves to nose bang the tarmac!

I mean you’re not able to go full tilt but they are fine to transport stuff like this from a to b. The new wifi versions come with 55mm tires and thru axles too and are super stable and faster when loaded and over cobbles etc

The pop up handlebars for steering that’s available on bullitts sounds amazing though, great feature. Omnium should also incorporate that on future models.

I carried a fridge freezer on my Mini-max once and as long as I was sat on it, or leaning on the saddle when I stopped, it wasn’t a problem but probably not something for the faint hearted haha

Pretty sure they spec one of these on the bullitt, so you could just mount one on an Omnium.

Heaviest load I've carried on my self built Omnomnom style was a garden bench with cast iron ends.

Handling was alright really, you notice it for a couple corners then you just adjust to it.

My front wheel is pretty far forward though, maybe that helps?
