I really think that is stuch a shit light placement.

Yeah i know. Too low. Its angled up and quite bright. But for my use London/kent it’s sufficient as an additional light to a flashing one at lowest batt setting.
On the fixie i have the same light slightly higher, still i use it with a flashing light at lowest setting.

Ah I didnt realise it was yours, it wasnt on a turbo trainer.

Thats an old pic, it is now! (Actually!)

thanks for the inspo.

Done exactly this using the Brompton fitting mentioned upthread. Works a treat, needed a bit of bending to get the angle right. Zoom in here to see, can get a better photo tomorrow if you’d like.

Good to see in real Life that this can work! Saw one on eBay for £6 something with free delivery!

They do a few versions, rack mounted like the picture has side entry cable, maybe not ideal for dropout mounted. The 'seatpost' mounted type the cable comes out the back, but its quite a beefy rubber grommet on it, to prevent cable damage. I'm getting the latter, in the post my way just now.
If you've got a full mudguard then you've got a few options of places to put it, get creative with bits of old stainless/alloy bracket and bolts! -

cheers, i think i have a plan now. the side entry version on the way.

Are rear dynamo lights mounted to the seatstay still visible to traffic? Assuming best to mount on the right seatstay?
-
• #3689
traffic is full of cunts, if you had a 5000 lumen light there still will be a cunt in an SUV overtaking you badly
^ this post adds no value, I am sorry
(mine is mounted closer to reach mech and I still use a blinker battery light on seatpost)

Presumably the tyre obscures the light from some angles? Even for 5000 lumens and SUVs?
Was wondering if this was more a theoretical worry rather than a practical one...

supernova have okay side visibility

Thanks!
Anyone know if one of these that isn't 20£ but also not just a p-clip and DIY bodge?

I have one of those sitting in my shed doing nothing if you want?
they dont work with supernova, only SON
-
• #3694
Used to have mine mounted down near the RD, now on the stay bridge, but equally run at least one other battery LED. Never have enough light.

Thanks for the offer - will have a think if I fancy the supernova.
Does anyone know if you can mount the e3 supernova seatpost mount light to a mudguard eyelet bolt with an m5 bolt?
From this picture: https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/310527/?offset=100#comment14058099 it looks like it might be possible?

there is a VO mount that works for suernova like that, I have it on my mudguard bolt

Any thoughts on the two 700c dynamo wheels that Decathlon sell? One is a single wall with a Shimano hub (DH-3N31-QR), the other a double wall with a Shimano Nexus hub. I believe they're wide rims, but don't know exactly how wide. I'm looking to get something mainly for commuting and some touring. Not sure of the difference in the hubs.

I have this wheel on my touring bike, unfortunately the bike is not with me currently but as a best guess the rim internal width is about 19mm and is currently fitted with a 37c tyre
I'm going to try one of the Brompton fixings (as below) bottom attached to the mudguard mount and the top holes 50mm apart- hopefully will fill the gap between the top or my wheel and the bottom of my SQR mounted bag
