COVID-19 vaccines

  • Had the vaccine yesterday, Astra Zeneca, no side effects at all. Found out I had the placebo on the trial. Mrs P had no side effects as well.

  • If you don’t mind the question, do you have any thoughts or feelings on having received a placebo?

  • Not really thought about it, mainly due to the fact that from the moment I had the initial injection, I had no side effects whatsoever so had guessed it was the placebo. Think it would have been a bigger shock to find out that it was the vaccine.
Further to my post earlier, had a terrible headache all day that has only just gone. I'm normally lucky in that i very rarely get headaches and usually self inflicted when I do. Mrs P had one as well.

  • So you are out of the trial?

  • No, they still need the numbers and data. The trial finishes Dec 2021

  • It's a rather important part of any clinical trial, surely?

    To whit, https://xkcd.com/507/

  • How have other asthmatics found getting the vaccine? I'm right on the border of getting it or not and think it is going to be down to my GPs discretion. Has anyone else experienced this?

  • Jab done. Got the Oxford Brookes. Nervously waiting for the promised side effects. On the road to immunity.

  • I went with my mum to get her jab (she's 63 and has a list of ailments but had to wait until now) and when she mentioned I've been caring for her they asked if I would like it as well. So unexpectedly I've got it too.

Was the Astra Zeneca and after a 9pm bedtime (I had been up to 3am watching nba night before so not quite the shock there) slept through to 9am today, felt slightly under the weather and arm was sore at site of injection but felt ok, took the dog out for his morning doings and went downhill almost immediately, felt like I needed to come back indoors and lie down right away.had aching joints and quite strong flu like symptoms all day. starting to ease up a little now though. mum has been feeling equally under the weather.

  • Did you remember to turn off bluetooth? That can drain your battery quickly.

    Feel better soon eh.

  • @hatbeard
Similar, day 1:- nothing, day2:- headache, day3:- aches and pains, flu like. day4:- so far fine.
Note, nothing that would have stopped me having it, more a nuisance.

  • got my 2nd pfzeir dose today.
I hope everyone can get this and leave this nightmare out of our lives.

  • You must be in an area with limited 5G coverage. Once you’re connected, the vaccine uploads a new firmware version and all symptoms go immediately.

  • How is your mother doing? I am still nervously wondering when any side effects will hit. 21 hours and, touch wood nothing. The bumph they handed out said fewer than 10% of people recorded side effects and so I am hoping to be one of the majority.

  • I had the astrazeneca one couple of weeks back and felt horrific the day after, didn't get out of bed. Headaches and nausea. Was still pretty wiped out the following day too. Then was fine other than a sore arm which lasted a decent while. Not so excited about the second one now.

My mum pretty much had the same experience as me too.

  • Thanks greeno. That gives me hope that I might have evaded the worst. Hopefully, the first jab will give you some immunity to the effects of the second jab, even if it offers limited immunity to Covid itself.

  • she's still quite rough today (currently passed out asleep after being up for a couple hours) but she can have rough days like this so it's hard to tell if it's 100% jab related.

I feel back to normal today except for soreness around injection site.

  • in my head I've been referring to it as the Ars Technica update so this checks out.

  • even if it offers limited immunity to Covid itself.

Where is this coming from? Have you anything to back that up? This study for starters says otherwise.

(If TLDR then this is the takeaway:- "Interpretation: A single dose of the BNT162b2 mRNA and ChAdOx1 vaccines resulted in
substantial reductions in the risk of COVID-19 related hospitalisation in Scotland.")

  • Wednesday, 13.50 will see me vaccinated at the
    Confederation Vaccination Hub,
    Bury Street, Ruislip,
(formerly the Ruislip Young Peoples' Centre).

  • substantial reductions in the risk of COVID-19 related hospitalisation in Scotland.

Protection against hospitalisation is not immunity. Secondly, I am unlikely to be hospitailised in Scotland with or without a vaccine.

The Washington Post article speaks of 60% immunity.

  • Rang my GP today to tell them they can stop texting me for the vaccine, since I've already had it and to update my records. As an aside I asked when Mrs Sifta (53) would be eligible, turns out they are currently doing anyone over 50 (White City), and she is now booked in for Saturday.

  • Im 22 and got a text telling me to book a few weeks ago. No idea why as I'm in no way at risk
