Someone in the comments on Hodinkee says its because there's new ISO specs requiring lume at 12 positions on the face. There's an answer. Is it the right one? Who could possibly say.
That’s a good answer! I hadn’t heard about that, going to dig into it. The correct response from Seiko would be to drop the date of course 😎.
That’s going to really mess with a few classic designs if true.
If it the case their solution still doesn't feel ideal - even a date at 4.30 would be an improvement!
