• I just measured the clearance on my (non-fixed, SPD pedals) bike and it’s 8cm from the bottom of the crank to the floor. How far can you lean the bike until the pedal hits the ground—and can you imagine doing that in motion? Mine goes to about 33°.

    It’ll probably be fine if you never lean the bike, or go over any bumps. I wonder if you could fit slightly bigger wheels and/or tyres, there looks to be room in there.

  • Gear ratio I'm not worried about as I will change the chainring anyway. I was thinking about going for inch pitch, possibly.
    It was running aground that concerns me. There is definitely not enough room for larger tyres as I've tried, but your right @aglet the chances of me running aground with a clearance of 9.5cm is slim. I could always put the longer cranks on my road bike then I wouldn't have to worry.
