  • ^ I feel you. I've had my moments of crippling back pain. Right now for me my nemesis is GERD. I've had it so bad in recent months, I'm on daily Omeprazol 20mg. Have just done three weeks no caffeine at all (coffee triggers it big time) not even tea. Also cut drinking right back to a beer or two at the weekend.

Have felt like a different person past three weeks, almost to the point where I considered just not taking Omeprazol. Until yesterday when reflux came back with a veangence. Its left me with the familiar clearing my throat feeling and hoarseness and shooting chest pains. I've tried every over the counter product I can think of. Daily Aloe Vera juice, Slippery Elm food and capsules. Acidophilus tablets. Milk Thistle tablets. Silicol Gel. Fruitin Gastro Gel Tablets. Fucking Yogi Throat Comfort tea.....

I'm going to have to keep a food diary and try and figure out what triggers it. Yeah it's shit getting old.

  • Ah that sucks. I've had bouts of it in the past but it's gradually cleared up by taking daily Omeprazol.
Hope you find out what causes it, it's really not fun.

  • It's awful. I really did start to feel so much better so yesterday and today is a real kick in nuts

  • Mine's under control now but I've had to cut so many foods out... Limit myself to one coffee in the morning, knocked booze on the head, don't eat anything after 7pm... It's a life sentence!!!

    What's left of it...

Download the acid reflux helper app, very useful tool...

  • Cheers Joe will do

  • It's a nasty business, I seriously thought I was fucking dying when it first came on a couple of years back... Good luck with it!

I'm on Pantoprazole twice a day, works for me...

Could also be your oesophagal sphincter playing up, I'm going for a barium swallow once all this covid nonsense dies down... Quite common, very easy to reverse with keyhole surgery and gives instant relief if that's your problem...

  • How'd the other thing check out?

  • That sounds grim ☹️

  • Spent ages looking for my ruler earlier, gave up and got the other ruler. Half an hour later I discovered the first rule, which I'd put in my back pocket so it would be handy.

  • Doc said he'd refer me to a specialist if it happened again, been good so far... Thanks for asking...

@jj72 It isn't so bad, I've been avoiding certain things for years... Eating out is almost impossible tho', I can do fish and chips and sushi...

  • Amazing that there's a jj73 account, too.

  • Well I am going a bit blind, mate... 🙈

  • I spent quite a while today looking for my reading glasses. It turns out that middle age involves not only the need for reading glasses but also a desensitised scalp.

Mirror, mirror on the wall, oh fuck, there they are.

  • Patellar bursitis - Housmaid’s knee. Of all the slightly shit and unglamourous ailments, this is the one that’s chosen to afflict me. Goodness only knows where it appeared from. Certainly not from spending much time on my knees of late (no sniggering at the back there). Perhaps spending too much time in confession.

  • I take it you've read Three Men in a Boat? If not, now would be a good time to do so. Won't help the knee, mind you.

  • I don't know what's more middle aged. The forgetfulness or two rulers.

  • I’ve had both rulers since I was 18 or so, ones a steel ruler for marking out/cutting against and the others my scale ruler. Both pressed into use today to make my shifters evenly positioned

  • Primula cheese blue plastic key. Anybody remember them? I've decided I need one.

  • My wife, for some reason only known to her, throws out my tube of toothpaste when there's at least a week's worth of usage left. Not much goes on an electric brush head.
My mother used to use those blue keys on our toothpaste tubes when I was a kid but Primula don't seem to do them anymore and they've been cancelled.

  • Here's the deluxe option. The payback terms might be a bit long though, £9 plus postage is a lot of ends of toothpastes. https://www.aktlondon.com/collections/all-products-atom/products/the-assistant

  • Tiffany used to do a silver one

  • Artists call them tube squeezers or paint saver keys. You could get one online from an arts supplier, I’m sure they could use the business.

  • This isn't something you remember vaguely, away to the golf club with you!

  • I just bought 5 metal keys for £4 something from ebay.
