• I've never been able to manual or wheelie for any length of time. I very much doubt I'm going to start now.

I once had a pub conversation with someone who said he loved doing wheelies and was really offended when I suggested wheelies weren't an important cycling skill. He started to insist that he'd aced his Cycling Proficiency, had great memories of it, and was a really good rider, and doing wheelies was part of that. Then I asked when he had last cycled. Tumbleweed. Great embarrassment.

  • This had already concluded...

On something else altogether, why is the old thread title visible when clicking on this post?

I've tried to replicate this with a few other threads, but no joy so far.

  • Nah, wasn't a LOOk.

    Maybe

  • Too many variables really. Probably best going for manufacturer's recommended size and then tweak the bar/stem fit from there

  • I was trying to learn to ride trials stuff in my early twenties so rolling into backhops and j-hops was a thing. That whole rear wheel balance point eluded me though. Some people just seem to get it whereas I would get 20m of really wobble wheelie and loop out or drop it. This is why I stayed on the road.

  • That's odd. But also kinda neat.

  • But how does it work?

  • It's probably an extra special only-for-hippy feature.

  • Didn't have anything to do with the dev. Can only assume there's a title linked to the post (which seems dumb) or perhaps there's a title history and the 'individual post view' is bringing back the wrong title.

  • I thought the latter but it doesn't seem to work in other threads, e.g. the US Politics thread, which has had loads of title changes. Perhaps it works only for threads that have had one change, or something like that?

  • I reckon Hippy actually needs two bikes, one 100mm XC bike and one 130-150mm trail bike.

He can then pick the right one for his application, and sell the XC bike when he realises he never uses it.

  • Agreed, @hippy please buy a medium Kona Unit and I'll buy it off you in the summer.

  • Well yeah, that's a nice thought but I'd rather have a more versatile option than two more bloody bikes. I already own 3 hardtails but apparently they're no good any more because the wheels are too small blah blah blah

  • Here is an idea .. sell

  • Ok, since Plague Island is sinking into the depths of Brexit hell and by the summer motor vehicles will be useless and the zombies are faster on foot than everyone thought, the Kona will actually cost 700% more by August. ;)

  • Two of them are in other countries and the Inbred would get me, what, £100? I'd rather keep it.

  • So you dont really have hardtails

    You are welcome

Now buy the bombtrack; good spec; sus fork; what you asked for

  • Bikes kept in other countries don't count towards the overall number owned

  • This looks very nice.

  • Good choice

    Who hacked your account?

  • The point is I own them and a load of other bikes and selling any of them will gain me a little bit of space but fuck all money so I keep them.
Actually yeah, the Inbred is full rigid and the Kona is double boing so yeah, only two hardtails in my global cycling quiver...

Bombtrack? Not even in the list is it?

  • Yeah, what feckin' Bombtrack?

  • I own them, so yeah, they do.

I hate packing bikes in boxes so much I just left a bunch in every country I visited.

  • Dafuq is this now?

    FROM £3400, £4200 as a 29er hardtail.

Considering I'm still running Vee brakes and 26" wheels do you really think I'm going to spend that much?
