We're thinking of getting something new (second hand, but newish). If you wanted something small, lairy and AWD, what are the alternatives to an Audi S1 2.0 quattro?

Are there any? The obvious candidates - Fiesta ST, Polo R, corsa VXR, Clio rs etc - are all front wheel drive.

Limited run A1 Quattro is the only alternative in that size until the Yaris becomes readily available second hand. But Audi's aren't lairy, other then in a straight line. Audi's bias is always towards handling stability.

Fiesta ST and forgo the AWD. If you need more speed the Mountune.

Thanks - I didn't think there was anything I was missing. The Yaris will be sometime away before it's available I should imagine.

Perhaps lairy was the wrong word - I quite fancy something AWD, maybe even just for the sake of it.
