Just seen this. It’s just sand and cement mortar troweled in and then brushed off. It’s actually quite easy once you’ve done a bit. Our builder has kindly done the tricky bits around the doors and windows for me.

Nah - I totally get the point of using lime mortar in old buildings but this has replaced raised sand and cement pointing that has been in the wall for decades without issue. And I wanted it to match the new part of the house.
