Yeah, I didn't get how it was gov controlling people.

Yes, sorry I realised that and tried to edit it, but can't seem to change the reply to without deleting and re-posting, you've shown me up as being too lazy to fix my mistakes.

The PCR test is another amazing bit of medical tech, it interesting how it is being used and made better.

Another for the jab, am going to try and get the pfizer one.

• #20956
Yeah, sorry, just a bit tetchy today!

• #20957
How?

Ffs, just get a jab when you are called. Compared with the massive benefits between having a jab, and not having a jab, the differences between vaccines are both marginal, and also no where near as clear cut as seems to be portrayed.
Both my parents have been inoculated, and tbh, I haven't even bothered to check which one they are having. We are lucky, my wife's parents have no chance of getting a vaccine this year, they need to wait until the rich countries have fed from the trough!
-
• #20959
The rich countries will be having their nth dose for variant y before the poor countries get any. The only hope is local manufacturing which will take a long time to be built and needs lots of capital.

• #20960
Yeah I saw that. Not my road though.

I don’t think they were saying they wouldn’t get the other vaccines, but that they would prefer the Pfizer one. Maybe they own Pfizer stock?
-
• #20962
I don't disagree,
am going to try and get the pfizer one.
This suggests that there is a preference, not that its Pfizer or nothing. But it also suggests a willingness to game the system if a way can be found, which grates.
-
• #20964
It is ok, a few friends have 'gamed' the system to make sure they get the oxford one.
If you want a jab, why not hang around a few jab centers near the end of the day and you might get lucky.
EDIT Noted in other threads you have had yours, and you say I have game the system. Now what grates me is that you have not thought why the NHS are contacting me to say come get the vaccine. It is because I am rich and have bought one? Or I'm just lucky?
-
• #20965
I gamed the system, by signing up to a vaccine trial, and not caring about what vaccine I got, and what regime I was subjected to. Perversely I mistakenly thought that I may be getting a placebo, rather than the vaccine, I was wrong, there was no downside as far as I was concerned. But hey, ho everyone has to be happy in their own skin. I am, and I think you are.
-
• #20966
Btw, as I have posted today, that trial is still open. It needs people to sign up, feel free to join up.
-
• #20967
Not how are you getting a vaccine - I assume you have been invited by your GP - but how are you going to try to get the Pfizer vaccine? My team are working at one of the hubs in Westminster and people get the vaccine they’re given, so I wondered how you are getting to choose.
-
• #20968
But as I want/need to go to France and Italy and be around over 60's I'd rather not risk not being able to as I have had the wrong vaccine.
Lots of assumptions here
Also as a wolfson alumnus, I don't trust the oxford lot ;)
Throw away comment, but dumb

You’re so full of moral outrage on this thread, yet you post this

There are, and if there is a risk of the French government (or the French sort of family) being funny I want to minimise that. Is that wrong?
Throw away comment, but dumb
Yes a very dumb comment, but one I thought might have been funny and people would have got. What I thought was the joke of why oxford has had two motorways going to it from London while cambridge only has the one. The reason being Oxford gives better dinners for MPs. Wolfson was chosen, one of the more recent cambridge colleges mainly postgrads and the college forced Milo Yianopolis to leave.
You’re so full of moral outrage on this thread, yet you post this
Moral outrage? Genuinely asking where, I have an issue trusting the gov opinion between the pfizer injections. Then I have no faith in the gov choosing medical advisors after what happened to Ruth May (the chief nursing advisor dropped from briefings as she would not back Cummings) understand the for the oxford vaccine bigger gap may (older tech so better idea of what will happen, I don't know so say may cos I'm )make it more effective to the popuation. But let's not go there again, my issue.
Now I would have thought my comment of gaming the system to get the oxford ( can we decided on what to call each one) that the only reason is the greater chance that the have a reaction. The logic is that if you are a person that may have allergies, allergic reactions and carry an epi pen then the oxford/astra zenica is probably better for you.
The final reason is it is something I would prefer for my own reasons. If you want I'll explain to you face to face, as your opinion matters to me. The reasons may be wrong and pathetic but hey add that to reason that I'm a cunt.
EDIT at 13.00 Can't get through to speak to someone to book an appointment. But have spoken to an endocrinologist from the London Diabetic Centre and they are of the opinion that it would be scientifically interesting for them to study.
Additional 17.00 Getting the pfizer one, as I don't have any allergies. Found out that lots of people in my docs area have allergies so 'demand' the oxford vaccine.

Yes, and remember that platitude, at the very minimum, when you look over the forum members you consider friends.
