Deep Winter socks are good, not the PT version though. Personally, I prefer Madison Deep Winter Isoler Merino socks.

I have owned a lot of merino socks and the Woolie Boolie are the most substantial and close knit IME.
[Edit: I wasn't aware of the Rapha Deep Winter ones @monkdagola. I like the sound of the wind blocking layer]

I find Darn Tough socks better quality that Woolie Boolie. Plus, you get a lifetime replacement when they get hole-y (just send them off in the post and you get a new pair)... Cheapest from trekitt normally, although wiggle sell them as well now I think

Think the Darn Tough socks are thinner than woolie boolies and rapha deep winter so maybe better insulating . I find them much better in sub zero temps

Gonna give the deep winter socks a go. Thanks.

@miro_o the PT softshell baselayer as a midlayer is genius. I've been using it for off-road rides in the snowy woods and a few long rides in the freezing rain and it's been great. Something merino underneath and then a LS jersey on top and I was grand. I have also found the perfect metaphor for taking it off:

Do rapha do dispatch e-mails anymore ? ordered a couple of pairs of shorts on Saturday and not had anything other than other the normal invoice. The website seems to have been down all day too, what kind of half arsed operation is this ?
£5 for postage normally suggests some kind of premium service.

What's the Rapha website? rapha.cc , which I thought it was, is giving me this (I'm in the UK).

Not sure why you're seeing it in German, but this is what I get.

I've found it hit and miss on timing, some times takes weeks to dispatch.

Get it in Spanish

Cheers. Makes more sense than the German

Yes! Glad that’s working. I used it today. It’s damn cold out there.
Agree merino is great underneath. I’ve also tried a PT baselayer (good!) and Helly Hansen Liffa (not good!).

Websites still down, I'm no expert by I assume to vast majority of their sales come via the website especially in current times. So the website being down for 24 hour plus must be sub optimal.
Is something more significant afoot?

Seems to be working...

It’s been up and working since about 4pm yesterday. Just checked and it’s online for me now

And @MicroDosed™
Which variety of Darn Tuff are you recommending?
The Trekitt site has a whole range.

Odd, I was still getting the redirect to watch Youtube until just now

• #35821
It was probably cached.

Almost definitely; incognito mode is usually a good way to figure this out. However, some people are still experiencing being sent to the wrong locale though.

and Helly Hansen Liffa (not good!).
I quite like my Helly long sleeve. Fabric feels a bit weird but it's incredibly thin and warm. The only downside is it stinks as soon as a drop of sweat touches it

Yes they’re alright and last forever. Good value too. They’re not very warm once wet though, and stuff under the PT Softshell Baselayer gets damp from perspiration. 200gsm merino is much better for this I think.
