I don't recommend these brakes. I need to get some better ones, any suggestions? These are nutted at the back rather than recessed into the fork

What's the reach? Shimano 57mm dual pivots are good, if you need more than that you'll be looking at Tektro

I think 57 may be at the very limit, so it looks like I'd need Tektro R559.

They'd cost 40% of the cost of the bike, but it would be nice to be able to stop in a timely manner
