  • I’ve been cleaning it after every ride recently.

Like actually cleaning it rather than wipe away diets, check chain, etc?

  • Not sure what you mean Ed. I’ve been blasting the mud off with a pressure washer.

  • Pace have the XTR crank/ring/bb in stock that this should have come with (but wasn’t available at the time), anyone want the current XT setup?

  • What length?

  • Just had a search back and it looks like they are 165mm? If so I would be very keen, if you don't mind posting them.....

  • Yes they are, and happy to post them.

  • Cool - do you want to give me a shout when the XTRs arrive?

  • Sure.

  • I feel a little silly as I suspect* that functionally I'm not sufficiently talented to tell the difference between XT and XTR cranks by feel, but I got the 295 as a "ten years sober" thing, and I wanted it to be full XTR/Magura, so I'm going to do it anyway.

    *Where "suspect" means "absolutely certain"

  • Also I know it’s a small thing but this stuff is excellent:

  • what is it for?

  • Hmm, looks alright, might get some for my Crush

  • what is the idea behind the crenellations?

  • also, can you use some of that tape to stick your pics the right way up? ;)

  • Neil, congrats on ten years, a fantastic milestone.
If @danb decides against taking the 165mm xt cranks then I'd likely take them.

Also... for the love of god please take the yellow serial number stickers off the reserve rims!

  • what is the idea behind the crenellations?

They are air-filled bladders, so when the chain whacks them they absorb the energy/noise.

  • also, can you use some of that tape to stick your pics the right way up? ;)

I think that's a forum software thing, it does it when I reduce the size of pictures in order to have a hope of uploading them.

  • interesting although an exruciating name* when I Google it. No wonder they use VHS for short

    *Velocity Hucking Systems

  • Ta- da.

  • PM me your address and I’ll chuck the XT crankset in the post when I’ve raised the enthusiasm to take it off. Do you want the XT BB as well?

  • Crank due in mid Nov.

    Solid NOPE.

4 months overdue, but matchy matchy must be observed.

Have you trimmed that hose yet?
