  • and sent me 4 stamps as compensation!

    Wut?!

  • Posted on the first of Feb using Royal Mail Signed For, value is £525 but that's on the sender if it doesn't arrive. Shame there's no tracking - if I could see where it had got too (it started off in Chertsey) I'd feel more relaxed.

  • Royal Mail... you have to prove what the item cost you, not what you sold it for. So you are probably up the creek and they will send you some stamps.

Utter mis-selling of the "insurance" concept I say, and RM should be savaged by trading standards or some suitable body.

  • It was slightly over the £50 (£63) proven by ebay sales invoice. Not really, not sure why I wouldn't have received £50? If I insure my car for £4k and its worth £5k I wouldn't expect the insurance to be voided if it was stolen?

  • Equivalent of the postage cost.

  • £525 worth of watch posted Signed For is... irresponsible to say the least.

  • I provided sales invoice from Ebay and new price for the same saddle linked to a webpage - I now only ever use special delivery or Hermes who despite their reputation I've never had a problem with

  • Other couriers are worse, they’ll let you pay for the insurance and make you accept the T&C in which it states watches and jewellery are not insured against damage (or in some cases loss too or loss is limited to £500 or something). I always use RMSD and Secursus (3rd party insurance) for posting high value watches.

@pryally I don’t know how that works but it is what it is, happened to me before, not much we can do. If it was worth over £50, should have been posted Special Delivery...

  • The signed for post can be massively delayed or not at all in the current climate.

I'm sending stuff to South London and it's taking 2 weeks to arrive. Receiving stuff from Shepherds Bush took over 2 weeks then everything came together on a Sunday morning (love it when that happens).

Outside of the increase in theft from posties carts and doorsteps the post is pretty reliable still but not operating to a normal timescale.

Hopefully that's reassuring, certainly the tracking situation at the moment is not helpful.

  • had a Sinn 103 St?

I haven’t but agree it’s a great looking piece. If another Sinn was on my radar I’d be tempted to find an early 103 ‘Big Eyes’ or the chunky 156 with the Lemania 5100.

  • I like them a lot, but the prices are quite different on these unfortunately.

  • I used https://www.packlink.com/en-GB/ when returning my Fuji body to the Fuji service center. Pick up from your home / work address, shipping label provided and you can select the value of the shipment / insurance prior to booking. Not cheap per se but easy and I felt comfortable shipping it like this.

Took 24 hours from Italy to the Netherlands.

  • New watch day!

MrsDeth bought me the new GX 56 (from the Five Generals collection) for my 40th.

Complements the OG I got on my 30th

  • That 156 is lush. On a nato. Oof.

  • Nice, doesn’t even look crazy big. 👑

  • I think they’re great and will hopefully get one at some point. They were made for quite a few years so good examples do pop up, surprisingly quite often in Japan. Keep an eye on the casebacks, the early ones were held on with four tiny screws, the later were screwback.

    @DethBeard Congrats, great colour.

  • Right, I need your help watch-nerds. I need a goal to aim for, and I think that goal is a "proper" GMT, which I'll start saving for now and will get in a year or so.

Please name your favourite GMT, with an explanation of why it's your choice.

  • Next to a DW5600, it is a little bigger

  • It’s like a DW wearing a puffa jacket... I think they’re cool, been wanting to try one for a while.

  • We doing this again?

1675 because other than a 6542, which you're not gonna buy, it's the best looking GMT ever made.

  • Please name your favourite GMT, with an explanation of why it's your choice.

    What is your favourite GMT?

    Dont be lazy

You’re going to buy me my choice of GMT? That’s so kind of you! You should get yourself one that you like too.

  • ^ Which Month?

    Asking for a friend. :oP

  • Not sure if this is a 'proper' GMT but the dial looks pretty banging and it's a lot more available (and cheaper) than a Rolex.
