  • He's significantly worse than SRM Germany, and they're my gold-standard for poor service in the bike industry.

  • I'm in no position to judge on this score! :)

  • Old dredge but figured this should go here - 3.795kg

  • Wow @hippy takes bigger (heavier?) dumps that that!

  • They'd probably ride nicer too.

  • He's been getting his fibre then?

  • Processed barley, malt, hops...

  • I guess not a hill climb bike with that gearing so what’s the point?

  • Because they can, regardless of how it works, rides or disintegrates as it will never be ridden.

  • To think I was chuffed with my S-Works Allez built weight :(

Certainly not a hill climb bike with all that unnecessary handlebar below the hoods!

  • It would be even lighter with a hill climb chainring, but obviously it is built for 'real world' use...

I'd had a plan on building a 4kg fixed hill climb bike, but the exotica/cost needed to build under 5kg is extreme.

  • Also, probably a repost?

    2.7kg.

  • Isn't that the one that he got some Formula 1 carbon specialist to build parts of it for them? And it cost £45k in 2008.

  • really odd how similar those bikes look - even down to the rear mech. I guess some of the decisions are set if you're after the lightest possible. the one I posted is a bit lower budget I think

  • I wonder what those ultra lite pedals are like to ride on

  • Started building this back in September, came in at 7.05kg. Now I’ve kind of got a bit carried away with the whole weight weenie side of things and wondering why I hadn’t built something light before. Parts on order should see sub 6.5kg . New wheels even lighter maybe :/

  • I sold this frameset set in the black/silver colourway, always wondered if it would have been lighter than my canyon.
I really like it. Hoping I can find a rim brake version. What parts are coming?

  • I’ve got extralite stem saving 40g
    Ultegra pedals 60g saving
Hylix seatpost 116g saves 100g ish over speedsave.
Berk padded saddle on order 75g lighter then current bontrager.
3t 9-32 cassette runs on xdr freehub saving 15g over 11 speed ultegra.

Looking at farsport 30mm rims with dtswiss 180 hubs.

All that could see around 6.3kg ish

  • Jumping in with my 56cm S6 as thats usually the WW frame of choice.

It's currently sat at 5.598kg as I borrowed the power meter for my system six (5.612 with it).

I could lose bits of weight by upgrading to some Darimo bits, maybe something for the future. I would love to see how it feels running some 850g tubulars as well.

  • I’ll drop my Festka Scalatore 54cm in here.

After new wheels (775g tubulars - Extralite hubs to 25mm deep Farsports rims via Sapim Super spokes) and some Darimo bits (T1 Loop seatpost, handlebar, IX2 stem and Sub4 seatclamp), it got down to 5.470kg.

I haven’t used it much in the “very light” iteration, as it has a more practical set of TL/clincher wheels for longer rides and training (CK R45 laced to 45mm deep Farsports rims via Sapim CX Rays) for most riding. That setup is 6.170kg.

  • ^ Best looking WW I've seen.

  • Might as well stick this in here too.

6.41kg isn't too shabby for an alloy frame :)

  • Thanks for the compliment (albeit it could be just that you hate WW bikes and this is the best of a bad bunch haha).

My aim was always to have a bike I can use for long distances and that is functional. The issue with WW builds tends to be that they become too fragile and look odd due to the particular parts people often use.

In that way, I see this as a bit of an outlier and wouldn’t go the extra mile to cut the weight any more (cutting off bars, no tape, stripped saddle, etc.).
