Mine was stolen in a burglary some years back and I would be up for taking that.

How have people found going from controller to Keyboard and mouse? I mainly play FPS and looking to swap over, got my eye on a cheaper keypad & mouse combo to start with and see how I get on.

Ah, happy to replace it then! DM me to arrange a safe collection/meet if you’re London based!

I think you'll need one of these to smooth the transition...

That’s a bit over budget, how would that ease me in? Cheers for the help.

I wasn't being even remotely serious.
However the crap thing about keyboard compared to controller is WASD for movement control being digital. I've always thought a keyboard with just analog WASD would be a big improvement but the whole keyboard seems a bit OTT. Would be interested to see what it's like, but definitely not enough to buy one.

Sorry man, went straight over my head.
Exactly my thinking that a keyboard is OTT so going to try a keypad/ half a board as that’s all I’ll need. -

WASD
I just bought Hades on Steam. First pc name in 15 years
I am not a fan of WASD... Is there another way round this for hades?

Don't go for the cheapest mouse you can find. It's useful to have more than the regular number of buttons on it so that you can put the most common/natural actions on the mouse.
Me, I've been using trackballs for work and gaming for years. This kind:
I find trackballs much more accurate than mice. Also, since it doesn't move around the table, for gaming I can keep the trackball close to the keyboard, have my left hand over the left of the keyboard and my right thumb (less often my right forefinger) handy for a quick stab at the keys down the right side of the kb.

On a slightly related note, I can't be the only one who's a bit miffed that pressure sensitive face buttons seem to have died with the PS2? (Actually had a quick double-check there and it seems the PS3 also had it)

I've been meaning to pick up a decent trackball for a while now. Is that ^ the one you've got (M570, right?)? Currently got one in my basket awaiting the Bruce seal of approval.

That's the bunny.
The only minor annoyance is that every so often to need to pop the ball out of its socket and clean dirt off the rollers. Which sometimes you have to do with regular mice, so no bigg deal.

Nice one, got one on the way now.
The only minor annoyance us that every so often to need to pop the ball out of its socket and clean dirt off the rollers.
That'll be a throwback to the good old days of non-optical mice. Hopefully that won't be accompanied by the prank of having the ball stolen by classmates in school.

You'll be fine - the annoyance of digital forward/back/strafe is easily beaten by the nature of point & click shooting.
The point about having more buttons on your mouse is a good one - the thumb clicker on the side is useful.

It's very easy to pick up but to get really good with mouse aiming takes practice. All gaming mice these days go up to crazy high dpi but don't think you need to use really high sensitivity. In the mouse software you can set the dpi up then in game set the sensitivity low so it evens out. I really rate Corsair mice, they're relay well priced and work great. I've had 2 Razer mice that cost twice the price of my Corsair and both developed double clicking.

The "rollers" on the Logitech trackball are three tiny ball bearings and the ball itself is easy to pop out because there's a small hole in the shell directly underneath it. Since what you have is basically an upside down optical mouse and you're rubbing your thumb over the surface of the ball, bits of you ending up on the bearings is inevitable. Roughly every two or three months I feel the motion of the trackball become a bit jumpy, pop the trackball out, two seconds to clean.

Wish something would happen with Pipe BMX on the ps4/consoles. Some of the PC mods look fun

Xbox controller and usb dongle. Absolutely flawless on my PC for many years and perfect for non WASD games.
-
• #24770
Yeah, i'll be adding some shortcuts on the mouse definitely.
Cheers for the help. -
• #24771
Cheers man, i'm going to see how I get on with regular gaming mouse and then invest when i'm happy
-
• #24772
Cheers for the heads up, corsair seem pretty reasonable in comparison to most!

• #24773
Nice one! Yeah I spotted the little hole in the bottom for poking the trackball out. Seems like a simple procedure. Can imagine it gets a bit inaccurate when grubby so nice that the cleaning is quick & easy.
