Back in the 70s it was even a common subplot in films from other genres (comedies, heist capers etc). The Anderson Tapes, for example.
Aside from anything else, the technology that has now "got" us is computing, something Hollywood has mostly been reliably shit at making films about.

It is exemplary and well deserving of the two Oscars (Cinematography & Visual Effects)

And is said to have inspired some really fucked up real life surveillance technology - The Gorgon Stare :

Just watched Saint Maud. Bloody hell it's good.
No gratuitous jump scares, just unrelenting unsettled feelings.
The fact that it was eerily quiet the whole film made it so claustrophobic.
Loved it.

Another Round
Really enjoyed it. Just well acted, well paced, funny and wistful in good measure. Lovely.

Babyteeth. Absolutely incredible. Fuck knows why it was listed as a comedy on Netflix though. Not that I was expecting a film about a terminally ill teenager to be side splitting.

Strange that I've only just heard about the Ultimate Watchmen cut, purchased a copy overnight so gonna give it a go now... I'm really looking forward to it but will probably be sorely disappointed in close to four hours time...

I haven't seen it, but have seen Tales of the Black Freighter & Watchmen separately.
I am in a minority that actually likes Watchmen as a movie (and a comic) but not sure I want 4 hours of it... -

It was great, I really enjoyed it... I'd never seen the Tales of the Black Freighter part before, didn't even know it existed TBH so that was a very pleasant surprise... I thought the editing was a little agricultural between the two parts, that was a bit off-putting, looked like the intern had spliced them together...
I fell asleep thirty minutes before the end, of course the ending is all wrong but it didn't hurt my enjoyment of it... I haven't read it in thirty years, probably time for another go at it...

Nicholas Cage has a new film out - Willy's Wonderland. It's about a haunted Chuck E. Cheese type place and it's as bat shit crazy as you think then some more.
Nicholas Cage American History Xs an anamatronic gorilla on a urinal, just watch it.

I feel like we're on the same page with Nicholas Cage. Is it actually good or is it Nicholas Cage freaking out in an entertaining way? I'm in either way, I'd just like to know what to expect.

In a big way. Put it on randomly with housemates and went from idly scrolling phone to howling with laughter after first scene. Completely dragged me in.
Played pretty straight which kicks up the humour. Swinging from hilarity to big emotional questions. Soundtrack and sunny aussie camera shots are also delightful.
May give you the urge to shave your hair into a rat tail and get some stick and pokes.

Tom Hanks was very much not Nic Caging it in news of the world, but it was still a good watch for a bit of Westerning.
Really? Now I must see it.
