  • @inchpincher turned up. 1973 Bulova Clipper AG. Also bought a matching original print ad. Photos a bit wack because the dial/crystal are pretty damn reflective. Came on a size matching JB Champion but Accutron branded bracelet. Fine by me though. Very comfy. Though could probably loosen the bracelet by a notch.

Case is 33mm wide with a 40mm lug to lug which is great for my diminutive wrist.

  • @DethBeard beat me to it - if you like that Oris, I was going to suggest you have a look at the Sinn 240 as well (although I prefer the tide version with the internal blue bezel). Or if you want a more knockabout version, the Seiko ufo reissue (SRPC11 ).

The Oris is quite different in style and price bracket to the breitlings - are you after anything in particular ? And I completely agree about making the call in person, renders / pics never capture them properly.

Just another thought - for the price of the new breitling, you could pick up a nice secondhand Superocean Heritage or a chronomat blackbird if you want the knobbly bezel...

  • Those numeral fonts (chef's kiss)

  • Really cool. Love it 🐳

  • Fuck is this chefs kiss bollox? Keep seeing.

  • Mwah.

  • So grump, many anger 😀

  • U know when u read something a few times tho.

Then a fortnight later start using it.

  • Excellent stuff, I think it’s an extremely well thought out choice.

  • Any reason why I should not go for the gilt version? Quite like how it look slightly like a patina of the old Rolex.

  • I like it they haven’t overdone the gilt like Tudor or the steinhart I have. That’s the one I’d go for.

  • Is it still the same movement in the Everest? It’s noisy to the point of sounding broken.. I grew to find it endearing but worried me initially. The gilt one looks great though and the clasp is meant to be really good. I’m always impressed by the build quality of mine (1st generation)

  • That is lovely.

  • I think so, noisy miyota. I am no fan of the movement on the baby dreadnought. It’s noisy and the date starts changing at 11:30! Reliable so far though.

  • Mine wobbled on the wrist. Never had another watch quite so bad. Longines BigEye wobbled slightly but comparing to the Smiths it was nothing. The Smiths felt like it’s about to take off for a good few seconds!

  • Nice catch JB, looks in great condition. That case shape probably wears a bit bigger too and the Milanese compliments it well. Congrats!

Quite liking this. VC 222 and general Genta vibes, as well as Oyster Quartz.

Just seen @PawG posted up thread. Disappointing. https://www.lfgss.com/comments/15783695/

  • thats's awesome. congrats. love the print ad too

  • Nice catch JB

    🤠

  • Are there any watches that dispose of numerals and show the numbers by an alternative method... i.e. domino pips?

Not that I'm looking to buy, just curious given the American numerals discussion.

  • Think there’s quite a few weird and wonderful ones floating around. I always liked the Qlocktwo:

When we are out of lockdown I'm going to be spending a lot of time in a -'local' watch dealer.
