  • I thought he was going to cry

He concluded saying something "I am sure once I put on the jersey and get on the podium it will feel better" - well, he didn't look much happier..

  • He's just sad that he couldn't celebrate in front of 10,000 Flemish people in his Dutch kit

  • Princess Aura : Look! Water is leaking from her eyes.

The Emperor Ming : It's what they call tears, it's a sign of their weakness.

  • Oh I see - MVDP is the real victim in all of this because his fans weren’t there to celebrate.

He might feel like a bit of a twat if he thinks about that carefully.

  • Oh I see

I don't, where did you read that?

  • tom pidcock has never had a coffee

  • He’s a minor.

  • missed this yesterday, sand-bunny-hopping at 50kph

  • You could argue the same applies to your post.

He was trying to explain his emotions in a second language after a hard physical effort. It may not have come out clearly but I thought he was trying to explain that it didn’t feel like the Worlds because of the lack of fans, and that was odd. He definitely wasn’t suggesting he was a victim in any way.

  • Thought I saw him do this on a few laps yesterday. Assumed it was off the slightly more solid surface at the bottom of the climb & he was hopping into the sand rather than once he was in it

  • My point was it all comes across as a bit ungrateful at a time when he’s lucky to be able to take part in his sport.

  • I think you're putting a lot of meaning into his words that isn't there. His being fortunate to take part in his sport is something he didn't convey strongly enough for you? He owes you, us, the world, some kind of gratitude for that?

  • Weren't a lot of riders at the grand tours last year saying similar things - no crowds at the sign on or finish and no fans on the big climbs?

    Ungrateful bastards.

  • What you call their sport is in fact their job, which costs a lot of sacrifice to be able to do for only 15/20y of your life. I don't see a problem in them caring for the crowds being there. If you start slicing it so thin, then we are all ungrateful bastards as we all have more than what we need as a bare minimum necessity.

  • Elastoplast would be an appropriate sponsor.

  • Its weak but i will take anything in off season.

Also the pros are going up ventoux on feb 13th?!?!!

  • Only to Chalet Reynard.

  • Only.

  • 10 kms at 10% to get there. In February.

  • In February.

y tho? is this a corona anomaly or a regular thing? "race to train"

  • They did it last year, pre-Covid. I think it's the organiser's attempt to give the race a signature stage. Fine when it's sunny, less so when the weather's poor.

  • Friebe is superb on the cyclocross world champs in latest cycling pod: https://overcast.fm/+SItT810. Strong analysis of the aesthetics of cross.

  • Thought the episode was a bit weak and Friebe was too dismissive. Maybe he's playing to the same crowd that aren't interested in a range of disciplines on a cycling podcast. Was good to hear it discussed on there at least. I know the feminin podcast covers woman's racing, but I also thought they missed a beat leaving it out, not to mention the u23 woman's race. Those two were much more exciting.
Cyclocross Social coverage before and after was very good IMO.
