  • Yeh. First race already cancelled. They can't cancel the Olympics right?!

  • Haussler talking about his cross addiction here: https://overcast.fm/+SK3edwA

  • Good start of the season for AG2R La Citroen Mondiale at GP La Marseillaise.

  • Dutch national CX championships got cancelled, so they thought it handy to do it in Oostende this year.

  • Pidcock said on his Instagram he just cannot ride well on sand at all and needs to work on it.

  • How do you ride well on sand? (Genuine question, I have no idea. I don't think I've ever got further than about two metres on sand before getting off.)

  • I know GCN did a video on it but I think you have to keep weight over back wheel and let the front wheel do its own thing.

Once I'd overcome the strain of listening to Mitch Docker this was really good.

  • Racists

  • I think the theory is: lots of speed or lots of power, no steering and weight on the back.

Then you need to be a madman to come down a bridge and jump into deep sand at 50kph hoping to not faceplant

  • Thanks, both. I think I'll put my sand début off ever so slightly. :)

Mad people? In cyclo-cross? Surely not?

  • It’s more consistent application of power than lots of power, although clearly being able to apply more power consistently helps.

  • On yesterday's ride I took advantage of a closed golf course and went into a sand pit, it makes it a lot easier if the sand is frozen!

  • Or wet. Loose sand is impossible to ride on with 34 mm tyres, hence the need to run.

  • Yeah, but you wouldn't want a constant power at a low gear, you need a big gear, high torque, small cadence act to balance the bike, hence the lots of power :)

  • Did anyone else have the impression that MVDP esultation was a bit awkward?

In his interview he said it felt weird and not like a worlds without the crowd, and I cannot stop thinking that his celebration was a reflection of that state of mind.. (everyone reposting that on Instagram today doesn't help shaking the thought off)

  • If my dad saw this comment he would go ballistic!

    They are called bunkers fyi

I thought he was going to cry. And that made it really hard.

  • esultation

You can't really 'translate' 'esultazione' that way. :)

Do you mean when he leaned backwards? I found that odd but didn't connect it to anything else.

Maybe he was just trying to put more weight on the back wheel.

  • Tell your dad to get rid of his bunker mentality, then. Sorted.

  • Those things.. I did tell a golfer friend first thing this morning to piss him off, to which he replied "bloody cyclists"

  • Do you mean when he leaned backwards?

His celebration just before crossing the finish line, seemed awkward, second guessed and overall uncertain.. Pim outdid him by many folds! I guess it's hard to celebrate with the mindset "at least this will be a good shot for the press"
