  • Hi all! An old friend and I have the same Nikon FE from our days in architectural school. This was in the 90s... I got mine first, following his recommendations. At the time, he was already equipped with a more modern Nikon model. Then a couple years later I found another FE in a flea market for cheap; there were couple of things wrong with it, don't remember what exactly, but it wasn't a big deal. I gave it to my friend, who had it repaired by some local highly recommended guru.
The last time I used mine was probably around 2007 when I climbed the Mont Blanc with my dad.
My friend just recently tried to use his again. But new batteries just die in no time, about 24 hours! (I'm comparison mine still work after over 15 years).
The guru mentioned earlier is probably retired, and this was in France anyway, in the middle of nowhere; we both live in London now.
Any idea what the problem could be? And if this wasn't an easy fix, any recommended London based repair places?
(This is mine, I should start using it too...h

  • From the experience of repairing the light meter in my FE, google is your friend to see if there is someone has had a similar problem. Cost of getting the camera repaired will be much more than getting another working one.

    EDIT: Bit late.

  • Yes, but in this case there's sentimental value (to a limit of course)... I realise it's a luxury. I guess he'll decide when he gets an estimate from the repair peeps recommended above.
