I’d say that with very consistent and even heating (induction) and known quantities you can get really good and consistent results.
On a gas or radiation hob, different burner sizes and temps, less consistent.
It’s why microwave cooking rice is decent, because you can get exact measurements of rice and water, and exact times on the microwave.
isnt rice cooker mainly about keeping cooked rice fresh? Otherwise good jasmine rice with 2x water, 20 min induction '5' with timer is as easy as a rice cooker.
Basmati can absolutely fuck off.
