Perhaps its more of a Korean and Uncle Roger thing then?
Korea is well known as a country of electronic convenience.All the Koreans that I know, plus all my extended family (9 aunts and uncles and their kids) have rice cookers.
But alot of their kitchens don't have ovens or grills as they just don't use them.
The rice cooker on the other hand gets used 3 times a day, 7 days a week.
As with my partner's Japanese mother..
