Haha, total bedlam. A few moves back it was almost a mirror image along the diagonal.
We’re both playing the same game, it’s just a race to see who can get there first.

The move of your queen to H4 turned me inside out.
In that screen shot I thought I was only a few moves away from finally taking a proper advantage.
-
• #431
It was an all or nothing move!
And a bit after the screenshot above, if I’d have moved my king to d file instead of b which I nearly did, it would have been game over.
-
• #432
I was hoping that was the way you would go.
The move im setting here for my queen to a6 was the first i have had chess.com analyse as brilliant. I thought it would set me up to press on in attack, but I must have made a duff move after as you took the advantage shortly after and held it. -
• #433
Yikes. If it said that then there must have been a way for you to force the win or get a strong advantage somehow...
Never had a 'brilliant' move either... even if I've thought so myself.

Im not 100% convinced by the analysis on chess.com, or maybe the analysis it does is at too high a level for me to understand.
-
• #435
It’s defo not 100% some things just don’t seem right, but I guess it assumes the opponent plays as a computer and therefore works on the basis that the opponent does stuff that most players would no way ever see.
If you follow the continuing moves through it usually eventually makes sense.

Mind if I ask the etymology of that Jonny?
My kids think that a) you are a chess god and b) you have a very funny name.
Be nice to be able to explain one out of two....

ha, yeah sure. my missus was on Florida on holiday about 8 years ago. was on some boat trip around the Keys and the guide announced to everyone that it can get quite windy and that people should hang on to their hats, sun visors and any store bought hair.
i was setting up a gmail at the time and i just loved that term so that was born. obviously we call them wigs here. you can tell your kids these days I really could do with some myself these days. but most gods do

Sorry guys, just seen that everyone else is pretty much finished and I'm only just starting my second games.. I'll try to make the next ones quick
-
• #443
Wouldn't worry about it, I'm nowhere near finished either
-
• #444
I do wonder if the 3 day time limit per move has been a bit .... generous?
I've definitely found the faster games easier to engage with. Although maybe abr (BlackHorsey) is on to a good strategy here...
-
• #445
Happy to go with whatever works for the majority, but is there a way to tweak the format so you're playing single games in quick succession rather than 7 in parallel for the next one? Maybe even a straight knockout format?

Me to me after playing crap moves against BlackHorsey

Yes, we can have groups of two. So you will only play one at a time. The downside of it is the next games only start once all the games have finished so there is naturally more waiting around.
Lets try that next time.I think keeping 3 days is good though. Most people are slower and it is good to be able to forget it for the weekend if needed.

My tournament is over, but I'm up for some Chessing this week. Either quick 10 min blasts or 3 dayers (but with the intention to play faster than that)

Have you checked out the lessons on chess.com ? Loads of videos.
Not sure what you can and can’t access though without paid subscription
