Depending on how far down into the ground the ownership of my house and the land on which it sits extends I might have a controlling interest in the extraction of said mineral.
When I lived about 1/2 mile from here you could sometimes hear and feel the blasting from the mine through the floor. -

Does he know The Father Christmas Letters by Tolkien? That has Father Christmas and a polar bear.
