Is there a recommend 27.5 mixed terrain tyre? Ideally bigger than 2". Schwalbe Hurricane?
Prob 70% road 30% UK mud, which rules out a Big Ben type tyre.

I've haven't been keeping up with current tyres. I ride fixed in the city and want a nice comfortable tire. My go-to is a 25mm Conti 4000S but would preferably like to find something less expensive.
Any tyre that rides/grip like a 4000s but maybe cheaper? Lots of rain in my area too.

Have you tried the GP 4Seasons? Rides and grips like the 4000s (for city riding) but last generally longer (hence cheaper although RRP might be higher)

Just got some 28c GP5000s. They are... Good. But I'm not blown away. The last year or so has been on Corsa's and Turbo Cotton's, so I'm missing the flex of a cotton case, but they're certainly fast.
The compound feels good so far but I haven't yet found much cornering confidence in them - I suspect I'll need to play with pressure quite a lot.
Interestingly, I've found that my braking power has increased because the rubber compound is so, so grippy.

I say it everywhere but I've loved my conti race kings. Worth looking for other fast xc-ish mtb tyres - vittoria mezcal is well regarded.

What's the forum approved mostly road, occasionally grassy/muddy 700c tyre and not too expensive tyre? Tubeless would be nice but not a deal breaker for now.

I’m using the Hutchinson override tubeless. I’ve used them in the summer off road and they we nice, this winter they’ve been a little draggy on the road, I’ve tried putting plenty of air in them but I’ve got the 38mm version on so I guess that’s just a lot of rubber on the road.

GP5000 way more superior puncture protection than Corsa IMO.
Turbo Cotton is absolute king in terms of ride feel and speed, but puncture performace is very much squeaky bum time.
I've ridden all three tyres on roads in Isle of Wight on pretty much same road bike and for blend of puncture peformance and ride feel GP5000 wins. However I have seen some strange sidewall failures in this forum also...

Yeah I didn't have great luck with punctures on the Corsa's. The narrow grooves ust pick up too much stuff.
Turbo Cotton's were great until they weren't. 2500km before my first puncture and then a blowout a few mins after when I hit a stone at relatively low speeds. Was actually surprised at how decent they were in that regard.
Trying to enjoy the 5000s more, especially seeing as they cost so much less than TCs. Like half as much if I order them from the UK. I just miss that supple life. Miss gumwalls too. Think it looked much better on my bike...

I am very much a fan of Corsa Controls with latex tubes. More puncture resistance and grip than standard corsas but retain that supple cotton feel.
I've got some tubeless versions ready to try at some point too

Is the tread thicker on the centre strip? Or is it just the additional tread on the outside of the centre strip? As I do very much want to try some. I had a fork built so that I could use 30c tyres and they're at the top of the list for 30c.

The tread is a bit thicker apparently but I cant tell by feel.

I have had some controls and and in my option the ride feel is not as nice as original corsa.
None of these tyres fit for purpose now in Chiltern lanes and running Terravail ramparts tubeless for road riding. They have been amazing. 700x32 tho.
I would only ride GP5000 in summer around here. Flint all over the shop.

Thanks @leggy_blonde - who knows what I'll do. A pair of TCs in a 30c would be the ticket for me. Not that I found the 28c lacking. Also might just need wider rims. 19mm internal is nice, but 21mm+ is nicer...
@Zed I rode this morning and really gave it the beans. I think I've found that for the 5000s to perform as well as the TCs did, the pressure just needs to be higher than I would like. It wasn't the comfiest ride, but it was fast, grippy in corners and rolling resistance felt like zero.
Yeah I like them, they're pretty cheap and have lasted quite well. Only the one puncture so far but they are on my nice bike so only really see dry weather.
They are tan walls but not cotton (i.e. painted on) so they're easy to clean.
I bought them from Bike24 but that's pretty much a non option at the moment so Tweeks have them cheap as well right now: https://www.tweekscycles.com/uk/schwalbe-one-performance-raceguard-tyre-oem-cooschwalbe-one-oem-25c/?istCompanyId=56f52ebf-49f3-492a-9cbb-cb6ab0fc1bf0&istFeedId=33b89177-5114-4491-9c2a-09a3a7cb23b2&istItemId=iqmpamtaq&istBid=t&gclid=Cj0KCQiA6Or_BRC_ARIsAPzuer8tcOKhynfSZ3ZBUIcMhb5rvnwRkakVqYhZqe9bi7_4EGywA8LWOtsaAnAREALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
