Having run a small, service-led business I know how quickly one learns some customers aren't worth the hassle.

Did you purchase the e-assist and light from them? Were they new? Or turn up with some junk and tell them to make it work?

I dare say they have more profitable work on. Not to mention fixing punctures on mobility scooters and sorting out local parents without 2 Bob to rub together with doner tyres etc.

I think across the board this forum is pretty pro independent bike shops and I know the SBC guys are not only very knowledgeable but also supporters of the community and in general good guys (well everyone on their team I’ve met) so I’d be interested to hear the full facts.

Potentially it’s a job they shouldn’t have taken on, our shop flat out refuses to work with anything other than Shimano or Bosch when it comes to electrical work because this is what we’ve been trained in and it’s also what is fitted to the brands we sell.

Does it have a QR system? I'd seen a few times and assumed it was a semi-permanent retrofit like an Extracycle kit.

My new shop only works on Bosch and Shimano as well, it's such a nice change from my last shop that installed and serviced all kinds of hub motor retrofit systems - too many things to remember/keep track of.

Maybe, but actually there's a lot of people here who won't use bike shops because they know what they're doing, and scoff at the idea of paying people to do it.

Either way, it's a broad spectrum.

I will try to sort things myself. Purchase what I need, Get 50% there and then totally fuck the thing I just bought and probably something else in the bike. Take it to the shop and watch their faces as I tell them what I’ve done before shuffling out the door and paying for it all to get done properly

I’m going to be renting an electric Douze and Bullitt over the next couple of weeks to get a better idea of the handling, power and general use. Can’t wait.

Stumbled on these today. I want a flipstand on my Tradesman so bad, and damn if wicker baskets don't look classy AF.

Does the canopy interfere with your steering? I had to raise the handlerbars with the standard canopy....

No I accounted for that. Big gloves bump into it but basically, no, because the canopy doesn't go all the way back. Kiddos still covered though

P.s. don't mind the unsightly staples. They'll be covered soon.

Sounds like you've taken this personally, not sure why this offends you but I can assure you that they are incapable of dealing with MPF Drive e-assist.

I have used them as they were near my old work and I wanted to support a small independent bike shop. Hindsight is a beautfiful thing - yes, I should have cycled the extra few miles to London Green Cycles (a Douze dealer) to get it done.

As @VeloSurMer indicated, it is a job they should not have taken on and I am sure they have spent more time than they would have liked on not sorting out my lighting issues and stripping most of the lighting wiring while doing so, rendering unusable.

Both parties ended up disappointed - a simple "no we do not deal with MPF Drive" would have save everyone time & money.

I am going to leave this here - still not planning on leave reviews online - but please message me direct if it is still bothering you.

Both are each others competition basically. Douze can be broken in half (fairly easy once you've worked it out) and has a cable steering system = tighter turning circle, no death position and no flez induced steering.
Bullitt has a bigger following, good resale value and loads of used and new options from 3rd party vendors for them.
Ride both and choose the one you like the most! Not much between them.

Still waiting for some parts for the bike side of this contraption but overall basically as hard as building an ikea bookshelf.

looks great tbh, the site is quite bad, no clear assembly instructions, how will it work with hydro brakes?

Its set up with Cable disc, I mean you maybe could with hydro but to be honest where I am in Austria is mostly quite flat. This should generally be more then enough for where I would take it. Being able to split it for storage is more important for me.Came with pretty decent instructions. Cant complain too much it was 40% under retail, Covid lockdown sales.
