So, swapping out the chain & cassette from my Roberts has eliminated chain-skip, which suggests that I need to buy a new cassette to match the new chain (Hurrah)!
However, the right-hand shifting is still below-par. I'm going to remove the bar-tape and check the cable run. After that, if necessary I'll try a different shifter.
Oh, the joys.
