31.6 seat posts on road and CX bikes is utter insanity. That's reason enough!

Doesn't it mean you can fit a dropper more easily?
-
• #13705
It does but the market for people wanting to put droppers on road and CX bikes is fairly limited.

Also externally routed

Not had mine long but loving it so far, flys up the hills, great under heavy braking. No creaking from the pf30 bb. Win win

I’ve solved BB30 creaking with bearing compound between spindle and inside face of bearings. Zero creaking. Loctite 641.

Just using the cheap cannondale bearings with parktool grease

what tyre clearance is there?

• #13711
I’m using a roval QR and it tightens up a lot more then a thru axle. no problem lining up the disc at all. Don’t really understand why it’s QR rear and thru axle front but don’t be put off.

Plenty room for a 28mm tyre on a 25wide rim. Ordering some 28wide rims soon and will see if a 30mm tyres goes on

That’s good to hear. If I saw a 60cm I’d be sorely tempted.

It seems that the 2018-2019 rim brake generation of the supersix are few and far between (older versions around, but I seem to remember that 2013-2016 versions had the tendency for serious tyre clearance problems if you were unlucky? Plus the version that has the 25.4 seatpost is the 2017 version)
So I was wondering (to solve the 31.6 seatpost side of things) - what about if I just shimmed down to 25.4 and put in a cannondale save seatpost? How shit would that look? Practically it seems that it should clamp ok, with enough carbon paste
I’ve found a version where someone has shimmed down to 27.2 and that looks fine - plus had the added bonus of weight saving (https://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=127910)

On the lookout for a 56/58cm SuperX, all the way back to the cantilever editions. Hi Mod preferably (because if I'm going to crash when a 10 year old carbon frame breaks, might as well as do it weighing 200g less).

Upcoming house move means I need to shift this lovely 57cm CAAD7 frameset I've been sitting on for a while. Will be listing it in the classifieds shortly. £250 for frame and fork. Send me a PM if interested.

Are the mech hangers hard to source for these?
And what's the tíre clearance?
-
• #13722
Still available, I picked one up not long ago, but it's now on my other CAAD. I think it's a wheels mfg one. Tyre clearance is 25mm, 28 will fit but it's too close for comfort (dependant on rim and tire choice)

That Caad7 is lovely

i failed to buy his at some point, maybe he still has it

The only issue I’ve read about is the rear axle is still QR, so disc positioning is not exactly the same each time you put the wheel in, which leads to more caliper adjustments or rubbing. Sounds small but could be a pretty annoying thing to live with.
Also, I’ve heard the disc frame feels less comfortable, with stiffer forks and chainstays.
