My priority is descending with as many bones in one piece as possible.
I was kinda tempted by the idea of a light(ish) dualie but the thought of shock setup and maintenance as well as the lack of bag space for longer stuff put me off, hence the hardtail direction.
Less "gnar", more "far". I need to keep more of an eye on the second hand market I guess. I like the idea of another steel bike but there's a lot of carbon xc stuff around too.
Went through the same process. Built up a more modern bike. Inbred became a most excellent pub/shop/camping bike.
