One you're selling or you're suggesting it as a 26" fork option?
-
• #19128
It’s a 15mm bolt-thru, but otherwise it’s a modern fork that meets the majority of your requirements.

I have one, but I’m not selling it.

Gotcha.
It's twice the price of the whole bike though (+ it'd need a new wheel) so this is where I go back to thinking I'd rather just buy a whole new/used hardtail and leave the Inbred as a fat-tyre pub bike. Or maybe I just chuck the knobbies on and use it as a SS gravel bike. -

A new bike that has modern standards/geo is going to ride much better than trying to modernise your Inbred, tbh. I suspect it will be cheaper in the long run to get a new one, also.

I was in the same boat trying to find a straight steerer fork for an Inbred. I eventually got a rockshox revelation from 2009 but it was still pricey. I paid £180 for it. But it had a 20mm axle. The project became too much of a pain in the hole, abandoned the whole thing and sold it all on.
If you're not in a hurry I'd keep the inbred and keep your eyes peeled for a nice 29er hardtail complete.

Went through the same process. Built up a more modern bike. Inbred became a most excellent pub/shop/camping bike.
Should have gone even more modern and full suspension for the riding I have ended up doing but hey ho!

My priority is descending with as many bones in one piece as possible.
I was kinda tempted by the idea of a light(ish) dualie but the thought of shock setup and maintenance as well as the lack of bag space for longer stuff put me off, hence the hardtail direction.
Less "gnar", more "far". I need to keep more of an eye on the second hand market I guess. I like the idea of another steel bike but there's a lot of carbon xc stuff around too.

winterfied my lobster today, new kenda nevgals front and back, bit heavier than the unwired folding version i ran previously, only by a few hundred grams or so , and took it out for a test ride
first ride since a really claggy mission to epping in oct, dusted of the mud oiled the chain and it ran like a dream, i have to say i'm amazed at what an mtb takes and still glides along silently after 3 months no use , caked in mud with only an dab of oil ............. but then
500m in the very southern end of epping forest and i called it a day
so claggy, tyres were just picking the mud up and flinging it at the bike, hard work cycling not really that enjoyable, back along the roads to a continual hail of mud chunks flying off the tyres and framelove that bike though just handles so well

You could get something like @amey 's Procaliber, which has a bit more comfort built in, without the maintenance requirements of full sus

that shit actually works! which surprised me.
as in I saw it flex under my weight
-
• #19139
Have you ever serviced that fork since I sold it to you?

Hippy sees all frames flex under his weight

Procaliber
Yeah, I did think of the Scalpel or whatever that 'dale was that had the flexy shit built in.

Hippy sees the earth flex under his weight

Tis true

• #19144
Gravity is really just "stuff trying to get away from hippy"
-
• #19145
You won't get all the extra traction or downhill speed of a linkage/shock arrangement, but elastomers are pretty good for comfort
-
• #19146
How did you end up with a sensible bike?
Did somebody else buy it for you?
-
• #19147
never serviced, just a few re pressurisings
as far as i can tell it's still working fine and absorbing bumps -
• #19148
It's definitely worth whipping the lowers off and changing the oil, as forks tend to work well until they suddenly don't, and then you discover something expensive needs replacing :-)
Takes about 20 minutes

Where's best to look for used MTB other than Pinkbike or Ebay?

I have a 100mm, non-boost, straight steerer (?), 26” wheel Rockshox Pike- it’s a dirt jump fork.
