A woman who was reportedly trampled to death during a riot inside the U.S. Capitol was reportedly obsessed with the QAnon conspiracy theory, according to her friends and family. A photo shows that she carried a Gadsden "don't tread on me" flag at a protest before the violent siege.

I don't doubt that he could've found them, but claiming he was holding on to them to return to an officer is ridiculous, a child would see through that alibi.

Don't the police do this at riots in the US - leave piles of bricks on the route as traps - then as soon as anyone touches them they get a kicking and arrested.

Funny that this is even being proffered as a serious excuse here when he's apparently picking up real police riot kit compared to a bunch of rubble.

I think that was a false rumour that was circulating during the BLM riots.

There's also a photo of a police officer with the bag before it kicked off.

I mean, we know it was a premeditated attack and they bought assault rifles, molatov cocktails, pipe bombs, tasers, pepper spray etc with them. They may also have bought flex cuffs too. Just trying to point out that it's less obvious whether the flex cuffs were premeditated or not.

It's from early 2020, but it seems to match. Someone in the comments suggests that: 'No Officer's carry is that disorganized.' Well, yeah, not before it's been rifled through by looters.

Another thing that seems fortunate is that there are no reports of rioters getting any of the police's weapons.

Can you explain your opinion on this a bit better? Isn't premeditation of major importance when it comes to trial and sentencing for a crime?

Totally agree but also think its quite important that each case be judged in the facts that are still being established.

Was amazed to read that the flex cuffs chap's taser might not even be illegal to carry in the Capitol. The US only prevents firearms from being in there and tasers aren't consider firearms in the USA

You'd think they'd be more upset that Daisy got shot.

The fact that very few of them had firearms also seems like a good argument for the whole thing being premeditated, as they're usually dripping in AR rifles and handguns, but carrying them in would've made the Capitol Hill police much more likely to open fire. The incident of the woman that was shot whilst climbing through a door is very disturbing, but the whole thing could've been so much worse if they charged in weapons drawn.

I read earlier that the owner of the car that had the heavy artillery in had multiple sets of keys for the car when he was arrested.

At a guess, the plan was to hand out the keys so people could arm themselves if shooting started.
