  • Haha nice.

I also get pulled in by delays, I’ve wanted to try the Magneto since it was released so I’m looking forward to that.

  • That is a vee nice bass.

  • That is a very very nice Precision!

  • That's the problem, it's too nice for my skill level.

  • Keep it! Play it!

  • I’ll swap it for my shit one if you like? (Am ignoring my own skill levels in this generous offer).

  • Perfect. 20yr old Antoria Star bass with cracked nut and scratch panel plus loose connection in volume knob is yours. (No returns)

  • What are everyone's favourite looking pedals, then?

  • Love that Hudson!

  • Yeah! Land Devices are great looking pedals.

  • Amen, if I didn't have s locally made HP I would definitely go for that one... Love their aesthetic...

  • Ditto.

As in, I agree, not the pedal.

I find it hard to separate the aesthetics from the context to be honest. There's something very pleasing about the TS9, the red font Big Muff or the bubble-font Tonebender MkIII... but it's mainly association over design I reckon. I still think the original Fuzz Faces look goofy as fuck.

JHS pedals look great I reckon.

  • I like the audio kitchen - anti-“design” look - supposed to sound amaze too.

  • Ethan at @mettaaudiodevices makes some amazing/crazy things, worth a follow if you're into making experimental sounds... He does guitar pedals too! Love his style, I've been very close to buying one of his tape manipulation machines a few times... They sell out in seconds which makes my life much easier... He'll be putting the behind the bridge pickup in my Jag when he figures out the next evolution of it...

  • Dogman Devices have a great aesthetic in that vein.

  • Three twangy spring doorstops, the springs out of the back of a strat, a marimba and a door bolt. What does it do?

  • It's kinda like a little musique concrete machine, is got a delay and filters built in so you can create a whole bunch of crazy sounds... It's a bit bonkers, Ethan's a bit of a player in the very healthy Brisbane experimental music scene...

He makes an electric shaker too, which I think is pretty funny, but it actually works as an instrument... Pretty far out stuff...

  • would this work?

  • I think no, as all your signal will go to ground as the output of the pickup select is going to the pot cases, which are grounded.

  • It’s going to lug 3 of the volume pot, isn’t it? The chassis of the toggle switch is grounded.

  • Oh yes, sorry, was trying to hold the diagram in my mind while typing on the phone. But the same would happen as the signal goes into the volume pot then out to the leg of the capacitor, which is also on the pot case.

Unless the capacitor leg was un-soldered from the case, but then I’m not sure what would happen. I think it would be like a permanent tone rolled off...

  • Ah, ok, I see it. Yes, you’re correct.

  • Don't think I've been clear, the green wires are instead of the existing cap legs.
The cap would be joined to lugs only.

    Probably stilll won't work like.
    Any advice?

not even sure Ive got the right diagram at all now....

  • Ah, I get you. I think the result of that is a permanent cut to the highs, like you've got the tone knob turned down. What result are you hoping for?
