  • 50g lighter! Woot!

Looks like the batteries are quite readily available but considering a proper Sony one is like £70 or something that's a fair chunk of the total value of this paperweight.

  • I wouldn't bother with the proper Sony ones. Though you would have thought they would have supplied the battery with the camera?

  • Yes, the listing was for "all accessories" and the battery is listed as included on the box. So they owe me a Sony battery or a big lump of money back.

  • I sent in my X-Pro2 yesterday and already got the confirmation that the service center received it. Next step will be them sending the camera to the UK to check what has to be repaired and send me a price quote. Fingers crossed that it will be less than 200€

  • Just received the quote to repair it. 706.14€ - ouch.
I wrote a mail to Fuji UK now hoping that they will repair it for the listed price of £180

  • Did you contact them straight away and ask “where’s the battery?” ? Normally I try give ebay people a tiny benefit of the doubt. Then if they’re a dick they can have the ‘not as described’ returns shitstorm.

  • Yeah, I got onto them immediately. It's on its way.

  • I haz battery.

It doesn't come with an SD card though so of course I'm still out of luck. Wait, I've got an SD adapter w/ microSD in it that I use for racing GPS backup.

  • awaiting a flood of pics in the digital thread soon

    🙂

  • I want to be able to film myself (failing) to clear a jump cleanly, in order that I can see what I'm doing wrong. I've got one of those flexible armed tripod mounts which works well when there's a tree branch or similar to wrap the arms around, but the pump track at Herne Hill doesn't have a handy tree.

Does anyone have any experience of, and can recommend, a (very) lightweight tripod that can hold an iPhone and isn't shit? Many bonus points if it's small enough to go in the marsupial pouch of a hoodie.

  • I take it you can't just rest it on a bag on the ground or something you've already carried to your jump spot? Small L shaped piece of metal that sits on the ground? How high does it need to be?
How far from the chairs in this pump track?

  • Ideally you want it up from the ground so it's at the height that you are when on the face of the jump/getting into the air, which would be roughly the same as if I were holding it at shoulder height I'd estimate.

  • Hmm, so you'll need a proper tripod then, with an ipod clamp of some sort. I've always bought Manfrotto tripods because that's what everyone else did at the time :) ipod mounts though, no idea. A quick google shows the "best ipod tripods of 2020" but I'm guess you want actual user experience.

  • I've got a Manfrotto universal smartphone clamp & Manfrotto compact light tripod. Max height is 131cm though.

  • You don’t have a plethora of SD’s?

  • It's spelled STIs.

  • I do.

They're installed in a plethora of devices.

  • I never understood why it changed from STD to STI.

STD was always funnier to me because that was what interstate phone calls were known as in Australia. "I'm just making an STD call, mum, I'll be quick though, don't worry".

  • Do you think we should change the name of this thread to 'Thread for asking about a compact digital camera, being told to buy a new iphone and ending up with a Sony A6000 instead'?

That's exactly what happened to me when I stepped into this thread. Could save someone some time.

Loving my A6000 so far, all I have to do now is go somewhere photo worthy!

  • @hippy the a6000 is great but the menu can be a little awkward, it's worth setting it up to shoot how you want before trying to adjust anything while on the bike. I like using the focus tracking and shutter speed priority when trying to take photos on the move.

  • “Just buy an A6000 instead” thread

  • I've charged it, set the date and taken a photo with it. It's not too dissimilar from my Canon in operation but I've not looked at manual or whatever so no idea what it can really do.
    Got any hot tips? :)
