• +jontea & +crow I am thinking classic wide so more like 46 -48. The Salsas are a tad too expensive. The Ritcheys would be perfect without the ergonomic grip. I tried them on a friends bike and like them but they visually just don't fit the build in my opinion. I might end up with some Nitto M137SSB or B135SSB bars.

+rawmeat Thanks! I did some digging yesterday and came to the same conclussion. I might just get the ENE Ciclo ones.

+WilliamJohn Thats encouraging to hear. Might go for the Sun XCD then because I would prefer 44/28 over 46/30

+Jokke_A I used to ride classic road bikes with 7/8 speed indexed downtube shifters and touring rigs with 9 and 10 speed barends. I agree they always felt really nice and on point. Often better then any modern brifters I had. Here I am going with friction just to be almost free from compatibilty and indexing issues. From what I've read the Dia Compe shifters with the micro ratchet handle 9 and 10 speed quite well.

+edscoble can you point me at the cranks? I am not quite sure which ones you are talking about.

  • Was looking at the Sun xcd earlier, like the fact you can buy other spiders so you can use 110/74 bcd rings or 50.4 bcd, means I could use black chainrings and go sub compact.
I know the Ritchey bars look funky, but that ergo bump just feels right, but hey, we don't build bikes by committee, it's gonna look fantastic, really impressed with your component choices so far. Have you already got the rims?

  • Nope I also just had to realize they are out of stock everywhere... Currently checking options and alternatives.
