After stealing various different MTB's from work over the last few months (Including a Moterra Neo E-MTB which was hilarious), and with my interest in any form of tarmac based cycling dwindling rapidly, I decided to just suck it up and build a keeper. Looking forward to getting it dirty at the weekend!
There are some fun trails in the woods about 5 min from my house I've become fairly familiar with, so need to get a decent light so I can ride there after work in the winter months.

Being stuck in tier 4 London what's available for a mountain bike? Most of the stuff that I know of would take me out into Kent, which whilst it wouldn't be the end of the world from an infection point of view, being on my own in a wood, is still against the regulations.

is it?

If it's in Kent I thought it was? Given that I'm in London.

ugh .. i thought kent was also tier 4.

It is.

which rule does it break if I ride to beddlestead and back? or is tier 4 to tier 4 travel is also not allowed? when is travel 'exercise' ?

I think you're meant to stay local (to your local town/village whatever that means in London). It seems to be 'guidance' anyway.
The trails are probably a mixture of really wet and really battered from the heavier than normal use over the summer/autumn. I've got from now until NY off work but if the lanes are anything to go by I'm giving it a miss until things dry up. Anyone tried out the pump track in Hackney? Is it even open?

The Olympic Park mtb trail is open, and more gravel than mud.
-
• #18866
Oh nice, I haven't tried it yet either
-
• #18867
olympic pk mtb trail is the london mtbers winter nirvana, not least cos it's free and there's a bikewash
-
• #18868
Can one just rock up and ride it?
-
• #18869
No. You book a spot online and pay a fiver.
-
• #18870
Officially, no; unofficially, who cares
-
• #18871
If you can't afford a fiver, fair. If you can, and just can't be bothered to chip in towards track maintenance and people's salaries you're a bit of a dick.
-
• #18872
I can indeed afford a fiver. I might drive over, just to make everyone hate me - is there somewhere to park?
-
• #18873
I guess it's the same parking as the velodrome. But give us a shout when you go if you want gnar company! Been meaning to pop over since it reopened.
-
• #18874
Is it open bearing in mind we're in tier 4 now?

I thought outdoor stuff was allowed to stay open, but just checked and it looks like it is closed. Bummer.
The worst of both worlds - levers with inconsistent bite due to servo wave, and calipers that don't like to be bled
