• They didn't have an SBGW231, unfortunately - I was hoping to check it out but it's only recently started being officially distributed in Europe this year, I think. Still not seen one IRL.

The SBGY003 is actually thin, which is unusual for modern GS and it feels thin and light on the wrist. It felt like a proper dress watch, more than an everyday wearer. The dial was less reflective than I expected but it's really weird to look at because the radial lines just keep getting thinner and thinner - like you think it's going to just flatten out in the centre, but no, they seem to just keep getting thinner until you can't actually make them out properly with the naked eye. Not sure I've seen anything else like it. Very impressive watch, I didn't feel a great pang of desire to own it, but that's probably because it's a bit too fancy for scruffy old me.

  • I've kind of arrived at the same conclusion. I'll wait to see if they have another limited edition nearer to a big birthday. The 231 does look like a good alternative considering the amount of time I'm likely to wear it. The 003 does look very special though, it seems so thin that the deployant kind of unbalances the strap. All the same if I came anywhere near one it would threaten my bank balance.

  • I think the SBGK007 is very wearable on a casual strap. That could definitely be a smart daily watch. Nice movement too. But still a significant premium over the SBGW231.
