  • Cervelo p2c as a singlespeed frame:
From looking at internet pictures it seem like the rear dropout is 27mm long which leaves 17mm of adjustment but if you want to run a 25mm tire you have already used 8-10mm to clear the seatstay.

So there is only 7mm of possible adjustment (so not a whole chain link: 12.7mm)

So how do people do it: use magic gearing only, run a 22mm tire?

    att: @xavierdisley

  • Magic gear is part of #cervelolife, even the T3 is pretty restrictive, and you'll want to dial the tyre/seat tube gap in to the aerodynamic optimum if you're serious 🙂

  • okay, it is because cervelo p2c (and p3c) are cropping up for sale for cheapish prices (here in Denmark). I know they have been a possible bargain in uk/usa for a while.

  • this :) arent they made to be ridden with 22mm tubs only ?

  • There is 31mm width clearance (so officially 23mm + 4mm each side)
But with a derailer you can run slightly larger

  • That's pretty sweet. Did you get to ride it yet?

  • I think the T3 is quite flexible in gearing possibilities with my 23mm tyres. But then again I'm definitely not serious, most of the time I'm just changing the cog or chainring for a tooth or two and sure af don't care about the aero of the tyre/st gap. Sometimes you could fit a whale in there :)

  • the T3 is quite flexible in gearing possibilities

Compared with some of the alternatives, the slots are pretty short.

Even with a 25C tyre, you can theoretically run any gear you like by cutting the chain, and you don't even have to use a half link.

  • Did you run a 25c tyre on your T3? If so, due to rolling resistance on the road? Or is there perhaps a sophistocated aero gain..?

  • Did you run a 25c tyre on your T3?

I'm currently on a true 24 at the back, I've had a "23" in there which was actually 25mm wide. Xav has probably tried everything and knows the numbers, but I doubt that you can detect the tyre width in aero as long as it's on a matching wheel. The seat tube is 29mm wide, so anything less than that is hiding.

Obviously the fatter tyre will roll better, whether on road or track.

  • Thanks for that, I will be on the lookput for something wider as I kinda need new rubber.

  • I have and it's everything i could have hoped for .

  • Where have all the Cervelo's gone? Nothing posted since I bought my S1.
Did all the dentists get Covid? or have I just joined the most unfashionable club?
Or is it like fight club ?
Any pictures of S1/soloists greatly appreciated so I don't feel all alone.

  • Few tweaks since this shot, now just would like some actual racing to start.

  • That's really cool.
    Any more?

  • Missed this months ago, sorry. Half link chain is how I did it - on there is a 60x17t combo

  • yes thanks. The solution was right there in the picture all along... :)

  • Having swapped post to an in-line and longer stem, here’s an R5 to add to the mix (steerer still needs chopping)

  • Here’s my 2014 R3 in size 61.
Upgraded most of the bits: etap red 11, 3t arx stem and aeronova bars, sworks seat post, fizik arione saddle, Chinese carbon wheels

Need that high stack and long reach to fit my legs and arms. Cervelos are perfect for that :-)

  • Splendid , both.

  • Mine have been in hibernation over the winter. I'm thinking it'll soon be time to charge the Di2 system on the S2 though and take it for a blast.

  • pics or it didn't happen.
