  • Hive mind thoughts please.

We are (fingers crossed) completing next month. We will then be moving into short term accommodation while waiting for a house in the distant provinces to appear. We will be taking a few carloads of stuff to our short term place with the rest going in to storage (long term, not regular access). We are not sure how long it’ll take for a house to come up at the other end. Would you:
    A) Use a London removals firm and have things in storage locally just in case nothing happens and we’re stuck here forever.
    B) Use a destination-based firm and have stuff waiting in storage at the other end.

  • Some firms who do removals also do long term storage that isn't easily accessible but is much cheaper. When we moved out of our flat and stayed with family we had went with Safestore as it was close to where we were staying but it would have been fine and cheaper to go with the suggestion of the removals firm. We didn't end up needing access to our stuff so we didn't need it to be close.

  • Yeah both local and distant removal firms I’ve looked at do the cheapo sealed crate storage thing, I just have a feeling I can’t figure out that going with the removals people at the other end isn’t a good idea, even though it’s cheaper and likely equivalent service.
