  • the one red and one blue bin out of place is a little annoying....

  • You must be left-handed. I'd be knocking your parts bins off the wall with my shoulder if using your vise.

  • Not the best positioning. What if you need to grip something that is wide, won’t it hit the wall?

  • Talking with the manager of Porsche in Bristol, November was a record month for car sales, which they matched in December too. 43 cars sold each month. Wild

  • Explain?

  • I need new wiper blades for my Volvo. Is there a go to brand? Don't mind spending a bit extra for something that's going to last but don't want to go fancy for the sake of it. God that's a dull question.

  • Had the Tesla for two weeks and already had three software updates - one for a bug fix on displaying album art and two adding features (onboard storage of Sentry Mode alerts and Trax 2.0).

Each of them notified on my phone and installed in around 15 mins with no interaction from me apart from to confirm I wanted the install to happen in the app.

    Definitely feels like the future.

  • The drivers door on my landy sometimes doesnt lock quite properly with the central locking. I regularly install an update to the system by kicking the door, or sometimes if i have my hands full giving it a firm jab with my knee. Does the trick every time. No iPhone needed.

I think it will be a while until i'm at your level of being in the future.

  • one for a bug fix on displaying album art and two adding features (onboard storage of Sentry Mode alerts and Trax 2.0).

    Full dystopia.

  • Hopefully swapping my E-Class for this 5 series tomorrow: https://usedcars.bmw.co.uk/vehicle/202010225316912

  • as noone else has stepped in I will give you an equally dull answer having replaced the wipers on my old bimmer this year.

got cheap wipers on ebay having double and triple checked type of fastener required. the ones I got only half worked and ended up using zip ties as back up. they lasted for a bit but never fitted brilliantly. then upgraded to Bosch (from ebay seller again) and the wipers came with two different fastening mechanisms. one snapped off on installation.

this shit aint rocket science and plenty of youtube vids to show how.

but got fucked off and then just local halfords autocentre. piss easy booking system and they did the job in less than two mins (which is all it should take) and charged four quid on top of the wipers. paid 29 all in.

in future I will go straight to Halfords again rather than trying to save a few quid

  • "displaying album art" - the future can go fuck itself ;-)

  • Lol. Why wouldn't you want that? If I've got Spotify or a hdd full of albums, why wouldn't I want the album cover displayed?

  • I generally don't listen to music in the car. And I certainly don't appreciate art while driving. Though appreciate your car drives itself.

When crowds are allowed back I will be doing my best to wangle a lift with you in the Tesla up to the Hawthorns. Need to see first hand what the future is like.

  • I just installed updated Bosch wiper blade upgrades to two cars. Quick and easy on modern VW/Audi cars.

  • When crowds are allowed back I will be doing my best to wangle a lift with you in the Tesla up to the Hawthorns. Need to see first hand what the future is like.

There was faint hope last week that Birmingham might be in tier two from tomorrow and that 2,000 fans would be allowed into the Villa game on Sunday. I entered the ballot for tickets...

Of course no such luck and now I'm moving into tier 3 from Saturday even though I can Cambridgeshire from my bedroom window.

Football feels like a long way away but hoping we can enjoy a day at the Vine / Hawthorns soon.

  • Bought Bosch Aerotwin. Deffo worth buying the new style wiper like these - so much more effective.

  • Nice. But you need a compound slide vice under it.

    so expensive!

    Wolf drill?

    Black and Decker

  • i was figuring that i want stuff hanging out to the right of the vice if i want to work with my right hand...

there's quite a bit of space:

  • ha - that was deliberate. the box full of bin i giot has several that were perished, so i need to find some more...

  • yeah it will be a while yet. but it will happen.

  • Our Civic sailed through it's MOT with no advisories this morning. Happy with that for a 14 year old.

I hadn't had anyone look at it since we bought it in the summer so I'm relieved. It's done sterling service for us since we bought it so I'm going to reward it with an oil change, new filters and some TLC over the holiday - I'm getting a decent trolley jack and axle stands for Christmas and can use my Dad's garage so I'm quite looking forward to doing some spannering.

  • The tip/edge on the rubber? in the blades does last that long through use and UV degradation.

I've bought in the last 18months I have 'bought' bosch, valeo, trico and michellin for others and bought them from car parts places or usually supermarket/hypermarket with long opening times. Mixture of flat blade and usual depending on stock.

Last ones I bought for me were RAC brand flat blade wipers from B&M. Cheap at usually less than a £5 a pair. Last about 18 months, same as the expensive brands as GF uses the wipers to clean off frost, bird poo etc. The screen and wipers are regularly cleaned as I hate having poor vision.

  • Does that mean you are going up north to the midlands?

  • Yup. Helps that my Dad was an automotive engineer for years so I have an in house consultant ;)
