Nah, I'm just jealous. Only have Nisa and Presto here in the East Midlands, I don't know what a Konditor is or does, or what one might do with a Dusty Knuckle. Pictures please and I'll salivate at a distance.

Bad news - The Konditor shop at London Bridge has gone.
Good news - They now have a stall in Borough Market.
Bad news - It isn't there on a Tuesday. -

Tesco’s spiced rum effort can GTFO, a total waste of my time, worst pie of the year.

Simon got a box of Grandma Wild's mince pies in a hamper from work. An absolute shambles to eat, pastry crumbling all over the show. Cavernous gap between filling and the lid and had some small hard bits in the filling.

More bad news, they've sold out of vegan mince pie boxes to order.
Hoping if I slog it over to Borough one morning next week they'll have some fresh I can pick up.

State of that pastry/filling ratio. Ludicrous.

They had plenty of vegan ones at Borough Market a couple of hours ago. I'm pretty sure that he isn't there on a Monday or Tuesday.

It’s rumoured there’s baking going on at home. I will report back sometime after seven pm (post mincers)

Lower picture clarifies by showing the quality of the glaze on your crockery.
I love these saucers. We have matching cups and plates which are also really nice.
Would buy more but they were a present from a friend who found them in a charity shop in Edinburgh and frantically googling 'brown plates' has got me nowhere.
Any tips on how you'd describe that pattern other than 70s gratefully appreciated.

You don't have any decent bakers? :(

I looked at the Sainsbury's pies today but couldn't bring myself to buy them. The packets just looked sad. This may have been coloured by looking at their 'yule log' just before which is clearly a chocolate swiss roll:
https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/Product/sainsburys-chocolate-log-260gOT I know, but can anyone recommend a yule log?

Just got a massive one from M&S. Cost a tenner, but will satisfy those cravings I think.
Meanwhile...
Just got this ad on Instagram. Huge if true.

Does it split the wasteage between supermarket budget vs home made?

No such detail given. The population is what, 66 million people? So that's 1.X each if right.

Strip out babes in arms and mince pie agnostics/heretics
that's at least 2 each for followers of the TruePie. -

Not that I know of. Derby just doesn't seem able to sustain independent shops long term. The local chain is Birds, but they are nothing special. I'm pretty happy with co-op tbh, but is that because I know no better...?

Strong entry from The Marksman of Hackney Road.
Looks under-filled but don’t be deceived, just look at that fine pastry case. Filling ratio is actually spot on. Excellent pastry. Not so short that it disintegrates, good bite. They know their onions.
Filling consistency and flavour are great. Think there’s some dried fig in there adding a pleasing crackly crunch. Only let down by a lack of booze.
Top pie so far.

I think these are probably Fosters (Cornwall) I've got some similar stuff but in their green glaze. The brown stuff seems to be much more common. Always keep an eye out in charity/vintage shops you should find it quite often. Also plenty on ebay

I know it’s late in the day but what’s the go to for mail order mince pies? Alternatively are there any bakeries who do local delivery to Walthamstow?
Just found out that a friend has had some shit news and I want to send premium pies to them ASAP.
Amazing, thanks.
Was very impressed with there speedy email response as well so i'll be putting an order in this week.
