i find youtube unwatchable at the moment. are they trying to fuck you off so much with the ads that you just go: "okay, i'll stump up for paid membership - thanks guys!" cuntheads.

i was watching an animation of the space shuttle (natch) with ted and there was a fucking ad about doodle presentations that went on for about 3 minutes TWO MINUTES INTO THE SHOW!

Get uBlock Origin--gets rid of ads completely. You can also install Privacy Redirect (browser extension). Invidious (YouTube redirecter) has its issues and there are often problems with different instances, but I think it's getting better and more stable.

Can ublock origin block video ads on youtube? Cant think of a technical way that is possible!

Not sure what you mean? When I still used YouTube, I never got any ads. I now have Privacy Redirect installed (previously Invidition), so I don't need uBlock Origin any more, but yes, it was fine.

This is wild. Why the hell do Youtube make it so easy to block their video ads?! Surely a deliberate decision!

Maybe it isn't actually easy, but the folk at uBlock Origin are just clevererer.

I'm certain they used to feed video adverts through the same stream as the actual content in the past. This made it impossible to block video ads without blocking the content too.

Not sure of the ethics of blocking youtube ads seeing as its the content creators that get hit most so will probably just suck up the adverts for now.
